Beachmom, Andrew Sullivan sucks!
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 03:12 PM by TayTay
He compared John Kerry to Mitt Romney. (Right there, that one right there is a capital offense. I mean geesh, that is just not right. I don't think I can ever forgive the man for that.)

http://time.blogs.com/daily_dish/2006/12/romney_recants.html

Talking about Mitt the sh*t:

Well: at least that's clear. Romney was for gay equality before he was against it. He was for abortion rights before he was against them. He was for ending the gay ban in the military before he was against it. He was for employment non-discrimination before he was against it. And he was for domestic partnerships before he was against them. We learn two things: he's running. And he really is John Kerry's successor as a candidate from Massachusetts. He'll say anything and everything to get elected.

He is the very model of modern major friggin bastid.

You are a saint for dealing with this guy. I'm done with him.

1. An e-mail has already been calmly sent
You guys inspired me with that Boston Phoenix blog post, where you came calmly with facts. I did the same with Andrew. I started with Kerry's courageous vote against DOMA, which also proved his consistency of being opposed to gay marriage. Then I seguewayed into Iraq, excerpting his speech from Oct. 2002 that simply does not endorse the war Bush waged in '03. I said the only ones who really think the IWR was a "vote for war" were an oddball alliance of Rove and the far anti-war left fringe -- thought that might amuse him. I also demanded that he find the speech Kerry gave endorsing the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 (it simply CANNOT be found). Then I put a category of "Everything else", explaining how bloody consistent he has been on so many issues like abortion rights, the environment, "pay as you go", a diplomacy based foreign policy (endorsed by Jim Baker), and so on.

Then I mentioned that Andrew himself has obviously changed his mind about Iraq, but I sweetly said "but you're not a flip flopper, just a sane person who recognizes reality".

Nothing will probably happen. But long term, I sincerely believe my e-mails to him DO have an impact. They certainly have on Iraq. Kerry's tougher, but if Andrew can change his mind about a war, he could change his mind on other things. I'm actually not looking for an endorsement from Andrew of Kerry; merely respect for Kerry.

2. Excellent! Your last point says it all! As for Sullivan's comment

I agree with Tay:

:wtf:

Sullivan seems to be going out of his way to dis Kerry, and that really sucks. Sullivan is proving to be an all-over-the-place confused person!

3. He's clearly angry
that there aren't better Republican candidates for '08. Fair enough.

But not liking JK doesn't mean he and Romney are cut from the same cloth. Geez.

It's like Barney Frank said Monday, "I have come to believe that the greatest and most disabling form of naivete in Washington is excessive cynicism." Sully leaps immediately to mind.

4. Well, first he gave up on McCain. Then he took a look at Hillary
but she totally flip flopped on torture. Sully NEVER liked Romney, calling him the "Christianist" candidate, but then he saw hope when he saw past gay friendly statements by him. This, I guess is a crushing disappointment.

Currently, Barack Obama is #1 with Sully. He just loves him, in as shallow a manner as my mother. Sure, he links to some speeches, admiring the philosophy or whatever, but he knows damned well that Obama has no foreign policy experience.

Just wait until Obama does something, and then he'll get trashed on Sully's pages.

6. I am beginning to think he snaps at JK just to hear from you.
You present him with facts he is to lazy to look up and he likes that you are still interested in reading what he says. It may well be before you are done, you will have not only convinced him to respect Kerry, he might even support him.

5. This is a shallow man with a sometimes lazy streak.
He leaned the truth about JK joke from the Daily Show. Before then, he was going along with the rest of the media and really attacking Kerry saying he should apologize. That in itself tells me he knows nothing really about Senator Kerry.
It is good that Beachmom contacts him and presents the facts.

7. It is very good
She reminds me to be patient with people and bring them along. I just have a 'sore spot' with Romney and resent Sully equating the two. Not true. So, not true.

8. I can understand that -- Romney barely registers a brain wave with me.
He's going nowhere fast in a presidential campaign. He's courting the wackos, and my neighborhood wacko, Pat Robertson, has already fired back against Romney, so looks like the courting isn't working.

What I'm laughing about a little, is that the right wing blogs are now attacking Andrew for calling Romney a flip flopper (they're unnerved by the post in the exact OPPOSITE way as you), and then looked up stuff and called Andrew a flip flopper. Although, I can't stand those right wingers, seems like these attacks on Andrew are a bit of Karma.
