I don't recall that Gil Spencer was overly favorable to Joe Sestak during the campaign (I don't remember him being unfair, either). But he's been doing a series of columns recently that just get more and more positive. I just had to share this excerpt from today's with you all.
http://www.delcotimes.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17594750&BRD=1675&PAG=461&dept_id=18168&rfi=6(and yes, it's more than 4 paragraph breaks, but it's dialog, so how does one count paragraphs? It's a pretty long column so I think I'm meeting the spirit of fair use here.)
I ask him to name the last movie he saw. He can’t.
"I took my daughter," he says. "It was the one with the penguin in it."
"Happy Feet?" I guess.
"Yeah," he says, seemingly amazed. "How did you know that?"
He knows fiber optics, satellites and global tracking capabilities. I know movies.
I ask him a pop culture question: "Do you know who Borat is?"
He has no idea. Good.
I ask him how he met his wife. That, he knows.
They met in St. Petersburg (Russia, not Florida). He was on a military exchange program. She was there to study "ethnicity" for the Institute of Defense Analysis.
"It was a beautiful night," he recalled. "I met her and I knew she was it."
He proposed after just two days. She turned him down. She was seeing someone else at the time.
"She didn’t accept until eight years later," Sestak says.
How did he convince her?
"Just like this campaign," he replies. "I was persistent."
Awww. Just...:loveya:
And, oh yeah, I got an invitation to his Congressional swearing-in ceremony and reception on Jan. 4. I'll be there. :patriot:
(Can I be really silly and put a Kerry/Sestak '08 graphic in my sig? Who wants to make one for me?)
