There are strange happenings about...
I just do not understand. It seems that some people that joined DU (post election), and share our views are getting the boot for taking the fight to some old timers. Do you think that there are disruptors running about pretending to be Kerrycrats and picking fights with oldies, just to mix it up?
I am almost afraid to post in the freaky forums anymore. There is so much suspicion running rampant.

Reactions to loss range from a sort of grief-filled inactivity all the way to anger and suspicion. This is normal and to be expected. After all, this wasn't an armchair election. People invested their hearts and minds and a little piece of their souls in defeating * and electing Kerry.
We are now in the bitter harvest season. Congress has adjoined for the year. We have the contested Ohio results and that is not a happy event. That is the extreme ugliness of possible fraud (which is, I think, treason) and the realization that *'s reign might go on for awhile. People tend to turn on their own after, to coin a phrase, such a series of unfortunate events.
Some people are reacting bitterly to Kerry in very personal terms. Again, this is to be expected. It's kind of like saying, "How dare you make us care! How dare you not win!" Some people will go to ridiculous ends on this and that's how you get all the weird conspiracy sillinesses. (He didn't really want to win, it was Skulls and Bones, etc.) This too shall pass.
Remember a couple of weeks ago when Yahoo posted the pics of Kerry at the soldiers funeral in Arlington National Cemetery? Hundreds of people on DU and at Kos replied to those pics in generally (90%) positive ways. There was pride that what he did was right, wistful sadness because Kerry would be a better Pres than * and so forth. That was an outpouring of emotion. Trust those things as well. It's there, it's just a bit muted right now. When Congress reconvenes and it is time for action again, people will shake off the grumbles. Hang in there, friend, I got your back for this dour season.

During the primaries, we used to pm each other for backup. If you see something like what you're describing, pm me, or somebody. I think there's always disruptors on DU, disguising themselves as all kinds of people just to make waves. On both the Kerry forum and blog too. As much as alot of new people came to DU right after the election, there's also alot of people who just disappeared. Happened after the primaries too. So who knows. It's funny, we probably couldn't freep like that over on FR because they never disagree with each other!

4. I Myself Came To DU After |
|
The campaign blog shut down. Before I came here I was to busy doing alot of thing and when I got a chance I would be on the campaign blog. And since I have been here I have met alot of nice people but some are just a bunch of bullies that have the attitude it's my way or the highway. I have seen them run people off with their bully ass attitudes. And from what I have seen the biggest bullies are those that have over 1000 posts and when you check the profiles of these people they have been members for a long time.
And when I first came here i was constantly being called a freeper because I was new and I was taking up for Kerry. It still happens some but not as much. Now I'm not saying that it's all the older posters because some of the newbies are the same way. But if you watch most of the time it is the members that have been here for a while that act like they own DU and it's there way or the highway.
As far as getting a real freeper at times that is to be expected also. Hell they even would try to invade the campaign blog at times so I know it will happen.
But the one thing I must say is that I don't know of any on the Kerry forum trying to stir up problems. Maybe I'm wrong about this and I haven't been here at the right time but since I have been coming in this forum it has been a blessing in disguise. It is a place for those of us who are true Kerry supporters to come and get away from the Kerry bashers. I have found that I'm getting use to everyone here just like I did the campaign blog. Everyone is like family in here.

5. you have to remember that this board was always anti-Kerry |
|
During the primaries there were never more than 30-40 core Kerry supporters. It got really nasty after JK started winning.
I really appreciate the influx of new Kerry people - don't let the old timers get you down - or beat you up.

some of them, are getting the boot. They are being called neocon plants, sent in to challenge old time DUers. It looks to me like nothing more than school yard bully tactics and it really disturbs me. I am not speaking of any particular individual, just the practice of ganging up on newbies that have a differing point of view.

I hadn't seen anybody booted off because they took a pro-Kerry stance. That would make me very angry and cause me to raise big poo. I didn't mean to say this board can't be brutal to Kerry and Kerry supporters. It absolutely can and there's a few people who I have on permanent ignore because of it. I keep trying to take them off ignore, then within a week, aaaaagghh!!!
Of course, know that during the primaries, Kerry people fought tooth and nail. My sig line until recently was 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Be Relentless NO surrender. The Be Relentless came from the blog/forum the few days right before the Iowa caucus. Anyway, there were a few on DU who were even more vicious than I was! There is some Kerry/Dean history around here, in particular. But right now, most of the Kerry people I know are just trying to let people vent and be understanding. Once in a while I blast somebody's stupidity, and a couple other old-timers do too, but not that much. Honestly, some days I'm amazed that I don't get booted off. But since the primary, nobody's complained about me. They were really gunning for me last year though!

9. I honestly hadn't noticed people getting the boot. |
|
I did notice the reproaches, the conspiracy theories, the internecine fighting, the claims that if ____ had gotten the nomination, he would have won, etc. I chalked it up to post-election stress, second-guessing, and so forth.
That said, I have limited my exposure to certain discussion board and threads. The acrimony is pretty bad at times. You'd think the spirit of George W. Bush himself were hovering over us, given the divisiveness. Ugh. What a thought!

and new to the whole thing. I was never politically active until this election year. I was behind John Kerry all the way-and I am behind John Kerry all the way. Sorry I wasn't around DU before the election, but I kind of feel now that everybody is asking me to prove my loyalty. I never knew DU existed until I was desperate for election results and my mother-in-law sent me a link. I generally hate sitting still long enough to even answer e-mails, so blogging was a very new deal to me too. Anyway, DU had a newbie restriction, so I lurked until I could register, and here I am. Not a freeper. Not an oldie either.

Even if he was declared president, those same people would be complaining how he's not doing this, that, or the other thing.

You just can't please some people. sigh.....
Did you notice how every time Kerry makes a moves people come out of the woodwork hooting and hollering. Then 3 hours later it is back to "Where's Kerry"
The immaturity is laughable. Well, I am in for the long fight, no fair weather fighter here.
