E-mail from Cam to another DUer:
Wow! Attacking on all fronts-I love it!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3021730

I got this email from Cam Kerry (John's brother) and thought I'd share:

Dear (name withheld due to Patriot Act/NSA wiretapping),

Across the country last month attorneys like you helped keep our elections fair and democratic. Attorneys were there to shine a bright light on the democratic process and prevented abuses in key states. Because of this, desperate Republican efforts to prevent fair elections were unsuccessful. In the six critical states where we deployed Lawyers Keeping America's Promise attorneys, Democrats netted nine House seats, two Senate seats, and one governorship.

In the coming year, John will continue to fight for full funding of the Help America Vote Act. He will work with his colleagues to re-introduce and pass the Count Every Vote Act, so that every American can be secure in knowing his or her vote was counted. He will also continue to look for creative solutions to increase voter turnout and protect the integrity of our election process. These measures, along with the hard work of lawyers like you, will help ensure that the United States continues to run fair and democratic elections. But to accomplish this, we also need your feedback.

You have been extremely helpful both last month and in 2004, and we will need your help even more in 2008 as the Republicans desperately try to pick up seats in Congress and keep their hold on the White House. Please click on the link below and let us know about your past experiences as an election protection attorney so that future elections will go as smoothly and fairly as possible.

PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS AN ELECTION PROTECTION ATTORNEY
(http://www.johnkerry.com/events/121306_LKAP_form.html?s... )

Thank you again,

Cam Kerry of Boston
Phil O'Neill of Boston
Richard Pena of Austin
Laraine Rothenberg of New York City

Even if you're not an attorney, I'd submit your name. They always needs help in other ways...

4. Paper ballots, John. Hand Counted. Video cameras in every counting room.
Simple answer that every American would expect if we were counting 120 million dollars. Las Vegas casinos count every dollar this way, why aren't our votes just as important?

6. I'm not sure I'm with you on this one
I think there are ways to safeguard the vote besides paper ballots. (Paper ballots are no more secure than any other systems and have been stolen before.)

We can safeguard the vote to an acceptable margin or error, just as business uses electronics to track international and domestic money. We have not had the will to do this before.

and are way more accurate at keeping track of every dollar than any other method.

Uh oh - I don't think our detractors will be happy that we aren't singing from the same songbook. heheh...what's a matter, your brownshirt in the laundry, or something? ;)

8. That's very sad
We seek to come to an understanding of each other's positions. Understanding is not acceptance, but it is a start to a better debate.

And it confuses the heck out of the people who can't argue. (At least not about the issues.)

5. great
I really think that if Senator Kerry would do alot to vote for Voting reform it might win lot of people back to his side.

You could sort of see all through the 2004 post election stuff, people would be down on Kerry, and then you would hear a little news that he was fighting election results (or Cam was) or investigating, and then there would be alot of positive posts. This is a really important issue that I think needs to be concentrated on, so Senator Kerry and any other candidates in the future will have a fair chance in any election.

My biggest fear in the 2006 election was, would my vote count. I don't want that to be true for all future elections.

Meg
