Been in lurk mode the last few weeks because I didn't think I was adding anything meaningful to the group discussions. There were other reasons, but the time away has been an eye-opener.
I have been spending more time talking with the family about how this race is playing out. And it is hilarious to hear my DP (Dear Parents) talk about "them" of late and call them names that I won't mention in here. They started out as thinking that "they" were going to take the party over, but after seeing (still seeing) their true colors come out of this primary season, they are pro-Obama all the way. Even DD (Dear Dad) mentioned that "they" didn't do much to help Gore or Kerry, and hopes that the Dems will step in and stop those two from taking control of the party and stealing the nomination.
I have also been lurking over at urban blogs discussing Tavis Smiley quitting the Tom Joyner show, and I can say that I am not surprised it came to this, as unfortunate as it may be. I stopped listening to him weeks ago because of his bias towards Obama just like it was towards Kerry in 2004 (though he has come around to Kerry since then), it's just worse this time around. A lot of it had to do with Obama not showing up at his SOTBU (State of the Black Union) conference (He also rejected Michelle as a surrogate. :grr:) and the MLK event in Memphis (O did the right thing). And Bittergate is so ridiculous.
I am all for accountability, but how about accountability towards the candidate's opponents from both sides of the aisle that cheat, distort, spread lies, smears, and say or do things for political gain? That's where the problem was. His loyalty to "them" is also being tested, as is Joyner's.
I have also lurking at Kerryvision (nice site! :) and the Obama campaign blog and saw that blogpost about a
townhall meeting that the good senator gave in PA two weeks ago with some nice pics and comments too. :)
For the record, I still support the good senator, and his (and Momma T's and fam) unwavering support for Obama, and his 100% Civil Rights record. It was posted in the Bay State Banner this week and last week and considering the complaints about Democrats taking AA and our votes for granted, that's impressive. :) I also saw the Youth Build clip. That was nice too.
Apologies for being long winded post, just wanted everyone to know that yes, I still support the senator's works, and am supporting Obama all the way, just in case anyone thought or thinks I am a closet supporter of the other candidate (I got into a semi-disagreement with the blogger friend supporting her that thinks Obama's supporters are "cultists." that I don't even engage in political talk anymore, if you don't support her, you are part of the Anti-C brigade :eyes:). I am so ready for the primaries to be over.
Hope everyone is doing well. :hi:
