“And he was dead to us,” said one prominent Clinton supporter
For Clintons, a Time to Find Truest Friends http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/20/us/politics/20loyalty.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

Including:

"Mr. Kerry, however, endorsed Mr. Obama shortly after the New Hampshire primary, even though, according to two sources close to the Clintons, he had promised Mrs. Clinton he would not. (“Totally inaccurate,” a Kerry spokesman said.)"

1. that's a fucking joke, it's the same thing they did with Richardson
but at least in Kerry's case most people know it's bs as there is no way Kerry would have endorsed her.

Obama had Kerry's support before Iowa. but they wanted to save the announcement until later.

2. I don't know about joke
but I agree with the word preceding it. They may have had the IMPRESSION that Kerry was not going to endorse O(and even that is a stretch, I am trying to be kind and give the benefit of the doubt) but no way in hell did he SAY it.

3. i just read the whole article
the Clinton's really do have a sense of entitlement and think everyone owes them something . they have an inflated sense of how important they are and now much they have done for others.

that the entire fucking party got behind them and defended them during the Lewinsky scandal doesn not even occur to them.

Kerry was dead to them even before he endorsed Obama. he was dead to them when Bill Clinton considered supporting that Republican over Kerry. he was dead to them when Clinton praised McCain but not Kerry when it came to issues concerning VIetnam POWS and MIA.

4. Exactly - McCain himself praised Kerry on that
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 07:57 PM by karynnj
It also ignores that Kerry defended him in 1992. It ignores that the Clinton people essentially had a second - in some ways more successful swiftboating starting in 2004 saying he didn't fight back like they wanted him to - which doesn't jibe with clinton's comments annoyed that he spoke of Vietnam at all.

It forgets Hey John, an internet phenomena more than mainstream - likely because we beat it. They forget the way he was treated on ALito and Kerry/Feingold. After all of that I think they mistook Kerry's politeness and the fact that he said nice things about everybody but Edwards - who he said nothing of - with a commitment to stay neutral.

I agree that Kerry treated them better than they did him.

As to whose telling the truth - let's see - I've not found anything in all my research that I can point to in Kerry's case that I can say is a flat out lie - HRC? There are lies every week.

In 2004, HRC waited until March 3 - after Kerry had almost enough delegates to clinch the nomination - with many states yet to vote.

5. I doubt Senator Kerry ever considered supporting Hillary the way he does Obama.
And, no one owes the Clinton's anything. The very idea smacks of old time politics where favors are cashed in and the best man doesn't win. If this is what they represent- good riddance.

6. What a gossipy useless article. It's not exactly breaking news that
the Clintons are pissed that people they have known for a long time in the Democratic Party endorsed the other guy. This article is an example of what is wrong with our media today. So many important issues, and yet, this type of soap opera is the big talk of the day:

Mr. Kerry, his top aides and family members have received varying degrees of tongue-lashing from Clinton surrogates, chiefly two top fund-raisers — John Coale and Peter Maroney — with previous close ties to Mr. Kerry.

Mr. Kerry, of Massachusetts, had been cool to Mrs. Clinton after he believed she had “piled on” in criticizing him after his “botched joke” before the 2006 midterm elections in which he seemed to demean American soldiers in Iraq. But Mrs. Clinton visited Mr. Kerry at his home in Nantucket last September, checked in regularly and, for a time, seemed close to winning him over.

Mr. Kerry, however, endorsed Mr. Obama shortly after the New Hampshire primary. To this day, the Clinton and Kerry camps disagree over whether Mr. Kerry had made promises to intermediaries not to take sides.

He then publicly criticized Mr. Clinton’s conduct before the South Carolina primary. “And he was dead to us,” said one prominent Clinton supporter who is, in his words, “not authorized to trash Kerry on the record.”

The last paragraph is priceless -- the source trashes Kerry while saying he's not authorized to trash Kerry. LOL. I think the ABC debate and articles like this will be the prelude to this country's economy collapsing, the war in Iraq worsening, and the global climate crisis to increase in intensity. While everyone was infighting.

President McCain is going to have a lot of problems with which he is either unwilling or unable to deal with.
