6. He does.
Hillary voted the right way, but I can't help but think she's pandering. Daou posted her comment on D-Kos, I posted it in GD-P. Strange how she doesn't speak out visibly against the bill, but is now posturing with this statement.

9. I doubt it means anything, but
on the cloture vote she first voted AYE and then changed her vote.

11. That could just be an error - I've seen that happen many times
including Kerry at least once - it is likely easy to think a different procedural vote is being taken - then realize as you hear how others are voting - that you were not voting for what you thought you were. There's no advantage I can think of in terms of doing it.

10. Sigh indeed
rationally he may have made the right choice, I have no idea, but I felt like sighing over and over. Basically, all he did was vote for the 3 amendments, as far as I know (I did not check, but I followed a lot on CSPAN) he did not even cosponsor any of them, not even Bingaman's relatively mild one.

OTOH, I was impressed with Specter these last couple of days. The poor guy looks like hell, and I assume does not feel much better either, but he was tenacious and with what sounded like very authentic outrage. I know he did not vote for Dodd-Feingold, but to my non-lawyerly understanding, his own amendment sounded like a decent alternative. In any case, I think he was quite admirable on all this.

2. Some heads exploded on GD and GDP today,
Particularly those who create heros without looking at their records.

4. Really? I didn't think any of them were darlings of DU. Webb
was for a while, but I think he was more favored on other sites. Webb voted for the original FISA "fix" a year ago, so this was no surprise.

5. Webb had a lot of heads explode. I am not saying that they should not have known, but
they prefer to be ignorant of facts and continue to live in their illusions.

12. There a WHOLE disheartened by Webb thread
I think they were surprised that he even voted against the amendment to strip immunity. But, this seems to happen all the time - though over time I think people will get the picture.

a couple of nice surprises here (Reid decided to stand up to this in the end!)
glad also that Byrd voted nay (totally consistent with his philosophy but he hadn't voted on cloture. . ).

Boxer, Dodd, Feingold, and Kerry are no surprise, but pleased me anyway.
Sen. Kerry is standing taller than ever today. Thanks again, Sen. Kerry .

15. Change Minds, Change Votes
The case wasn't made to the American people. We've got to communicate better, that's all there is to it.

17. Did you see the Feingold interview on Countdown
yesterday? Kind of interesting, though I am not quite sure what to make of it. I do not remember the exact details, but very vituperative against FISA, but also saying that things can still change under a new administration, and conciliatory about Obama's vote.

was he genuinely hopeful, or just being politically diplomatic or is there some behind-the-scenes stuff there?
