As Teddy comes in, to rousing standing ovation, notice JK and Dodd walking together, close behind.

4. I think Teddy made the difference
NPR said this morning, many R's changed their vote after Teddy showed up. My theory: with Teddy's vote, cloture passes and the bill goes to Bush. Bush has already said he'll veto (although now he may not). A Bush veto would get some press and the spotlight would be on the R's that voted against. I think some decided they wouldn't like that spotlight very much, so they changed their votes. Tee hee. (Big thanks to Teddy!!!)

Btw, McCain was a NO SHOW, the ONLY no show. I saw a comment on the WSJ blog that this bill is also tied to TriCare somehow (which affects veterans). I don't know enough about it but if someone is keeping a list of all the ways McCain has failed to support veterans and the military, perhaps this should go on that list as well.

5. I really hope Bush doesn't veto
This issue will really affect a lot of seniors whose only insurance is Medicare (like my Mom!) It could cause doctors to drop patients! I'm so grateful to Teddy for stepping up!

7. My Mom's in the same boat as yours
It's truly a matter of life or death for a lot of seniors and disabled people.

Thank you very much, Uncle Teddy! :patriot:

6. Wicked awesome.
And the folks in the gallery didn't even get in trouble for joining in the standing O, which was very cool! Hey Tay, the offer still stands - I'll trade you both of my senators for just one of yours. (I'll even through in my representative AND an order of his Freedom Fries.)
