Wonk question that may be of interest to Kerry supporters (contraception rule change)
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/MH1/143

This is about the proposed rule change that Clinton spoke about recently, where the definition of abortion will be officially expanded to include many forms of contraception.

I was looking for a docket at regulations.gov for posting public comments to the proposed rule change, and couldn't find a docket for it.

Does anyone here have any specifics? Is this just in the "Bushies mulling it over" stage or what?

If it is a real threat, then Kerry maybe should pay attention, too. I am thinking of calling Casey's office next week. He is "pro-life" but probably won't agree with this rule change, and anyway his office should be able to tell me why there isn't a docket. (Okay, I'm dreaming with that last item, but at least I can try. Let them know someone out here is paying attention.)

1. MH1, this is important and is also relevent to another debate.
That debate is why health insurance companies cover viagra for men but refuse to cover birth control for women. EVEN in cases where the 'pill' is given for medical purposes and not related to sexual activity. I know for a fact that even to get an iud that releases hormones to regulate a woman's cycle, the insurance companies will not cover it. They claim it's a 'choice.' Like erectile dysfunction is so grave that it needs to be covered? Thousands of women are taking birth control pills or get the iud/hormones to regulate their cycle, to prevent the increase of endometriosis, or to decrease the level of menstrual pain.
