Interesting article on how Team Obama plans to use the Web
This is from an article in today's http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/11/10/AR2008111000013.html?hpid=topnews">Washington Post

Obama aides and allies are preparing a major expansion of the White House communications operation, enabling them to reach out directly to the supporters they have collected over 21 months without having to go through the mainstream media.

Just as John F. Kennedy mastered television as a medium for taking his message to the public, Obama is poised to transform the art of political communication once again, said Joe Trippi, a Democratic strategist who first helped integrate the Internet into campaigning four years ago.

"He's going to be the first president to be connected in this way, directly, with millions of Americans," Trippi said.

The nucleus of that effort is an e-mail database of more than 10 million supporters. The list is considered so valuable that the Obama camp briefly offered it as collateral during a cash-flow crunch late in the campaign, though it wound up never needing the loan, senior aides said. At least 3.1 million people on the list donated money to Obama.

1. Interesting, thanks!
I heard something similar on the tube. These guys are able to think outside the box in a coherent and disciplined way which I think is a rather unusual combination. How much of this is BO himself and how much those around him, I have no idea. I hope that they will come up with something new and effective, the times of the Saturday morning address that hardly anybody (drop the hardly?) pays any attention to should be over.

2. In fact
JK was also going to continue to use the web as he has these past 4 years and he was going to keep his blog open to the public.

3. Creating informative posts on 'outside' blogs...
...like JK does would garner a HUGE response. Imagine if...after inauguration...the President of the United States blogged on dKos or Huffpo. :7 It probably would crash the site. :) But...if that could be prevented...it would provide him great insight into public concerns and mood, together with a two-way street of communication. I think that would be invaluable.

It's going to be fun to watch.:)
