Farewell address for Sens. Clinton and Biden tomorrow |
|
Sen Biden will address the Senate at 10 am, Sen. Clinton at 11 AM.
It is not unreasonable to assume that the incoming chair of SFRC might also say a few words, on the Senate floor, about the departing chair. Say at around 12:30, give or take 30 minutes?
C-Span 2, tomorrow, Jan. 15th. After the SFRC nomination hearing for SUSAN Rice breaks.
It could happen.

I was tuned to the Senate for most of the afternoon, but maybe I missed it?
Did anyone else catch it?

Biden spoke for about an hour and Hillary after him. I didn't hear the end of hers. Biden's is worth hearing over and over--very heartfelt but not overly sentimental.
Did not see JK up until the point I turned it off.

http://c-span.org/Watch/watch.aspx?MediaId=HP-R-14354and Tay Tay posted a link somewhere (maybe Biden forum) with the specific clips. Kerry is up later in the afternoon but I don't know if it was for Biden, Clinton, or one of the many bills. edit - here we go: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=404&topic_id=27900&mesg_id=27929I'm loving how busy this Congress already is - but it's hard to keep up! Listening to Rice hearing in the background now...

I swear, he was up exactly one minute after I finally gave up and changed the channel!!! But thanks to you all and the CSPAN archive, I have now been able to watch it. Very, very nice tribute -- warm and generous. I couldn't help thinking that the "old-fashioned" values he described that he honors so much in Biden are identical to the ones he himself appears to live by:
"unfailingly loyal, your word is your bond, tell the truth, act on principle not ideology, keep faith with family and home, never forget where your roots are or who you are, be consistent and be honest."
(sorry, no transcript yet, that's from remarks as prepared, so not exact, but close!)
