The Senate is a bit slow today.
He is taking out the whacking stick. Good. Hit these hypocrites.
Yeah, angry just works for some people. (Re: Repub hypocrisy on spending, tax cuts and doing something about the housing crisis.)
Where were the Repubs all these years? Did the Bushies kidnap them and replace them all with exact duplicates?

4. Kerry is making a very clear case |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 02:29 PM by karynnj
for giving money to states - so they will not have to lay off state employees. He also explained how far from normal the debt to family asset ratio is - that will make people getting a tax cut, apply it to the past consumption debts.
Said to the TN Senator calling for dealing with housing first that the Republicans stripped his and Smith's provision out of last year's stimulus bill and because of their indifference a year ago, it is now out of control! He said he was the ONLY person at the meeting on the stimulus last year with Bush who called for dealing with foreclosures.
He spoke of how tax cuts can even be used for non-American purchases which will not stimulate American production.
Speaks of how even doing the stimulus and the housing components, we are not in good shape as many of our banks are essentially bankrupt - he quotes Krugman - and this gets worse as we dawdle.
This is classic common sense Kerry, who sees the urgency in getting something done. (This is must watch)

Common sense + understanding + depth.
And now followed by Vitter talking about Acorn  (not sure what, he is just polluting my ears, not paying attention for now). Are these people MAD??!!?

The good Senator merely reminded the Repubs of what was at stake, that he and others saw it last year and that action, not obstruction is needed.
Nice summary.

And he makes so much sense. And he is so frustrated. But he made me feel slightly less frustrated (see below), and for that I am grateful.

The best.
I posted a thread about it in GD, as did someone else.
What I wouldn't give to have Kerry take Reid's place. Kerry just demonstrated the best leadership skills and did the best of framing the debate than anyone else that has taken to the floor so far.

10. I think that he is too valuable on his committees ( though that is a nice compliment) |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 02:36 PM by karynnj
as Chair of SFRC and as a strong person on the Finance committee. (Interesting point - at least in the 110th committee he was the only Senator on both Finance and SFRC - with so many Finance issues having an international part - it is good to have someone on those committees who understands both sides.
I agree with you that Kerry is outstanding in framing issues - that was why Obama relied on him as a surrogate to the degree he did.

13. Personally, I sleep better at nite knowing that he is there fighting the good fight. |
|
John Kerry would and does, excel in everything he does. He would've been an awesome pick on a number of cabinet appointments, but, at the same time, not too many people can fight for us like he does on the Senate floor.

15. true, but there was only one position he would have taken |
|
and he was the best qualified person for it. I hope that the political reasons will be worth it for Obama.

12. I got sick of being a stupid fish - |

and was really sick of having to explain to people that I spelled pirhana that way on purpose. You wouldn't believe some of the ugly comments I got during the primaries :P

16. It is a pretty name - though your old name brought up a weird old memory |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 04:13 PM by karynnj
My two oldest daughters when they were early teens decided that Pirhana would be a fantastic name for a gurrl group band. They joked around about it - making up logos and such.
