Email to Senator Kennedy re posting on Kos |
|
Letter to Senator Kennedy's office following the posting of his comments on the Downing Street Minutes on Daily Kos:
I was pleased to see Senator Kennedy's comments on the Downing Street Minutes as posted on your web site.
I do wish that you hadn't used this release to help promote Daily Kos by cross posting there. There are plenty of better venues for releasing information to the Democratic bloggers. Kos has been using his site to regularly attack the other Senator from Massachusetts. Just today Kos used the release of Senator Kerry's military records as reason to attack John Kerry, and in another recent week had three main blog posts attacking him.
A site which regularly attacks John Kerry does not deserve the support of prominent Democrats such as Senator Kennedy.
The negative tone of Daily Kos is also frequently cited by other blogs to claim liberals are negative and full of hatred, obscuring our message. Unfortunately Kos's site gives them far too much ammunition to make this case. During the Presidential campaign the Kerry campaign even wound up removing Daily Kos from their blog list due to Kos's inappropriate comments following the death of American workers in Iraq.
While I understand and applaud your desire to make use of the liberal blogosphere, I hope you reconsider your use of Daily Kos in the future.

Kos will not deserve the respect the attention of prominent dems brings him until he gets over his bizarre vendetta against Kerry.

12. Wyden missed the boat again? |
|
Dang, knock me over with a feather!
:)
Actually, I am kind of surprised he didn't say something. He's got nothing to lose on going after Bush on the war, Oregon is very anti-war.

but I can't propose a trade. (I was outvoted and threatened with a loss of my Massholeyness if I ever thought of this again.)
Sen. Wyden was strong and courageous in his remarks on Patriot Act II. Give him a chance to recover. I am sure he will lead the charge on DSM.
(Hey guys, what if I had Kerry cloned and then gave sandnsea a clone? Would that be okay? You would have to raise him as your own and feed him and stuff, but it would be a start.)

3. Email not going through |
|
The email didn't go thorugh, and now I can't even get to Kennedy's site. I wonder if there is excessive load on their computers on response to his Downing Street Post.
I'll retry to send the message later.

as with every single post anyone starts about Kerry, it's already up to 311 comments. You'd think that would give Kos a clue. All the highest rated comments are in defense of Kerry.

a lot of people on the left have that same blindness to facts that affects the far right.

I just don't have the patience to go many rounds over there. (I have gone many rounds at DU today and am now feeling lazy.) I did post this:

Look at what happened. (4.00 / 2)
Kerry got taken to task for having a V added to a medal that didn't deserve it by a typist errors. (Not his error.). The Liars made a big deal out of this. So, obviously, Kerry's office decided to go back through the records and look for anymore typist errors that might cause him embarrassment. There is a shitload of paperwork to go through. It took time.
If some other typo had appeared and gotten out, people would have yelled about sloppy release of records that weren't gone through with a fine tooth comb. This is a no win situation. The records were made available for anyone who wanted them. Now they have been proofed and released. It doesn't change anything.

The lack of self-awareness over there can be dumbfounding. How do all these idiots, who are perfectly well aware of the media's, shall we say, unhelpfulness to Kerry, suddenly turn around and say the release of the records last year would have changed the outcome. Puh-leeze. They probably would have glommed on to the "bad grades" meme and driven it into the national consciousness with a jackhammer.

10. I will not be buying Kos' book |
|
and I might happen to mention to a few friends that they might not want to purchase anything with his name on the cover. After all, he is a bit of a hot head and tends to back stab people he disagrees with. Why enrich someone like that by buying their book?

I did not know that. I won't be buying it, either.
Brian Lamb did a long interview with him on c-span a month or so ago that showed him to be a bright guy, but immature and enormously egotistical. That's a brutal combination. His judgement is not to be trusted, yet he's in this high visibility position. He speaks only for a tiny fringe group of dems, yet he's one of the public faces of the "grassroots".

14. We should warn /encourage other senators and congress |
|
people about Kos. I know Boxer and Coyners have posted there. I think Reid has also. We need to inform them about how unjournalistic and fowl that site actually is. This man should not be encouraged. I really think he is sick and in need of help as far as his Kerry fixation goes. Do you think Kerry rebuffed him? (only Kidding)
