See this is why I stopped posting in GD
I make a rare appearance and some people start knocking Kerry, christ people, we eat our own way too willingly and easily. The issue wasnt about what Kerry should have done in the election. The issue is that Bush likes to brag about his own ignorance, thats what should be hammered, I dont care if Bush was a high school grad, I care that hes a frigging Yale grad and Harvard MBA who thinks its ok to do sucky in school and then brag about it. Christ, get a hold of yourselves people and get my point! I dont like dishonesty is all, I didnt see Kerry acting in 2004 like he was proud of his not so hot freshman year, I have heard Bush at many graduation ceremonies brag about his own medicority. I am not saying Kerry ran a perfect campaign but at least he knows who he is unlike fucking Bush. Rant over, christ, people like this make me almost glad I didnt have to register as a democrat, though I admit I deal with more rational democrats in class and such.

1. GD is a real mess today
They cannot even focus on real issues, so they repeat all the RW memes they find (records, grades, and Kerry not speaking out on DSM).

This will pass, but for today, this is absolutely hopeless.

2. Its not even about Kerry really
People should look at this from a nonpartisan perspective, we have a guy who happens to be a republican Bush who brags about him being a poor student and a democrat Kerry who despite being intially not a great student overcame this and doesn't look at it with pride like Bush does.

3. i know what you mean
people are incredibly stupid and many are just assholes. i agree, Kerry understands hard work. and he did get into law school some years after graduating from Yale. and also notice even while at Yale where he wasn't doing so great in his classes he still got recognized for his debating and was given the honor of representing the students by a speech. it's clear the war was very much on his mind and i'm sure the issue of the draft made it more so. unlike Bush who just had no care in the world since he knew he wasn't going to war and could get others out for him.

i'm sure Kerry's service in the military and some other things he did helped him get into law school.

also it's so funny seeing the fools say releasing them would have resulted in making the lies on his record go away. as if the media would not have focused on his grades more. and even now O'Neill and others refuse to admit they lied. the evidence was out then and they refused to admit it yet the media kept repeating their lies even if the evidence was out then.

4. Grade inflation makes the grades look worse than they were
While Kerry's grades weren't great, in the last 3 years they weren't that bad. As he was known for his ability as a debater and he headed the political union, he would have had some pretty impressive letters of recommendation, that would likely explain that he was better than his grades indicate. Even if there were no war, I would imagine that he would have been exactly the type of student accepted in spite of his grades. After his testimony before Congress, I bet he could have gotten in anywhere.

10. Good on you
My thread was more about how Kerry is a better person than Bush for not acting cocky about his grades and some people decided to turn it in to revisionist history on the election, and I really do think Kerry has been one of our best voices of opposition since the election. I am really proud that I defend him whenever and whereever I can.
