9. I heard him speak one sentence in French |
|
he was talking to some Haitians. Loved it. I also hear he speaks some German and some Spanish.
If he had gone to Canada instead of the smirk, he could have adddressed them in French. How cool would that be. Maybe he will go anyway! As the anti-president.

11. You know, I did once, |
|
when I was stalking him on c-span before the primaries. WAY before. Before the repukes started calling him "french". It was tres elegant.
You guys see him in person? All that crap you hear about no charisma? Shit. He positively glows. My favorite speech was in the Manchester NH library auditorium in December - the crowds were just starting to get BIG. His sisters were both there, and it was such a small room that my daughter and I both got to meet them - they were walking down the aisles shaking hands.

14. In person, you are correct: |
|
He sparkles. He glitters. He's cosmic. He's magnetic. The first rally I saw him at was in the summer, and dark by the time the speeches were over and he was working the crowd. The floodlights were on, and I got to within about five feet of him in back of a few layers of people. His hazel eyes, caught in that light, just sparkled with a mixture of intelligence and absolute kindness. All I could say to my husband was "It's the President!"
I also saw him a second time at an indoor speech, and he shook my hand--I was just one hand in the crowd. A gentle but firm grip.

That thing he said (in Newsweek???) about how the pundits have never gotten him? It's absolutely true.
There was a great article about his past in the New Republic last summer that talked about how he really HAS the common touch - it's just that the connection sails right over the media's head. I'm too tired to look it up now, but will try to find it tomorrow morning.
Love for John :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:
And for you guys, :pals: It's a sanity saver to be able to hang out here with you.

It's so nice having more Kerrycrats discover this Oasis!
Once you enter, you never want to leave! This is the only place I ever go on DU any more, except for rare excursions into the Lounge or occasionally Election Results. But this is my DU home. :grouphug: to all my lovely fellow Kerrycrats!
