Tomorrow after work I'm going to have an opportunity to meet my Repuke Senator (one of them at least). He's going to be in town to deal with some issues of local concern, and from 5 - 7 p.m. he will be meeting the public. I want to ask him two questions.
#1: "Walter Jones (our representative - another Repuke) has stated that he is in favor of having a time table for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Do you agree with his position, and will you work to bring our troops home as quickly as possible?"
#2: Are you concerned by the revelations contained in the DSM? (If yes) Will you sign the letter that Senator Kerry is circulating that calls for President Bush to answer questions in regards to the memo.?"
I don't really expect him to give me a straight answer to either question, but that's not really the point - I really just want to let him know that someone out there is paying attention. He's a freshman by the way (took John Edwards seat) so he didn't vote for the IWR.
Do these questions sound okay to you guys? I don't know how big the crowd will be (the are serving free seafood) or what the format is as far as asking questions, but I'm going to give it a try!

he voted for the IWR, he was in Congress then. Anyhow, good questions, try to think of a good local question too.

He did vote for it while in Congress. He wasn't on my radar screen then so I forgot about that.
As for a local question, I could always ask him if he would oppose offshore drilling if that ever became an issue again (which it might). We fought that battle with Mobil Oil in the late '80's and won.

I hear hes related to the duelist and Jefferson Veep Aaron Burr. Ive really never been to North Carolina, went through it once while an uncle lived in Norfolk but really havent been there, I am gonna be trying my best to find someone willing to let me stay with them for our beach week, since the beach is a great place to meet people, and I want to show people that Ive grown up with that I can be just as if not more obnoxious, Ive always been shy. Sorry for the rant. I just really wanna go!

I would go ahead and ask him about Iraq anyway. Some of the Repubs are starting to turn, so you never know.

5. I'm definitely going to ask him about Iraq as my first question, |
|
and tie it into the Rep. from this district Walter Jones who is pressing for a withdrawal.

7. Great that you have the questions written down. |
|
That way, if you get nervous, you can just read what you wrote. Let us know how it goes, what he says, etc.

8. Always good to put 'em on the spot |

But I'd ask whether he supports the Bush Doctrine of American expansion and reshaping ME politics; and whether that policy is why Bush chose not to have international cooperation in Iraq which has led to this long and failed occupation.
