OMG! Read this article on the situation in Ohio
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 08:43 PM by TayTay
And remember, all the bad things that Al Capone did and in the end he went to prison on tax evasion charges. Gawd works sometimes in mysterious ways and the Ohio Rethug Party, in all it's smarmy arrogance, may be brought down by a few valuable coins that got lost in the mail (allegedly.)

Read this. It's really, really important stuff. These are the cases that tend to bring down empires. Now we have to rely on the good people of Ohio to take matters into their own hands. I think they will. The Rethugs have forgotten that they are beholden to the people and the people can throw them out at will.

This is the best news to come out of Ohio since the election!

Rox was right. My enthusiasm got the better of me. My apologies.

4. Praise Cheeses!
I've heard some about "Coingate" on AAR, but this article really explains the situation very well.

I have two questions:

1.) Could the Republicans possibly be any more corrupt? (OK, that's a rhetorical question.)

2.) And this is a more serious question: Can the average American really fully digest and handle what the Republican Party is doing to our country? As evident in that article, this is not a sound bite issue, neither is the DSM issue. (BJ's in the Oval Office on the other hand, were a great source of sound bites - no pun intended.) If the empire is toppled because of this, what kind of instability will it bring our nation? Don't get me wrong I have honestly been praying for the downfall of this administration since Nov. 3, 2004 I'm just concerned about the aftermath of that downfall.

I know our nation has been through a lot of difficult times before and I know we are a strong people, but if it were to happen, could we handle the total collapse of the people at the top of the power structure? Maybe I need to have more faith in my fellow Americans but I just don't think they know what's about to hit them.

Sorry for rambling, and thanks Tay Tay for keeping us so informed!

6. Soundbite politics:
Ohio Republican investors lose $50 Million dollars in state money.

Investigation into lost state money delayed until after the 2004 election because it was 'too sensitive.'

Ohio Republican officals took donations from guy who defrauded voters out of millions.

I think people can 'get' this. And it will make them mad. (Loved your cheeses phrase, btw)

7. OK I stand corrected
It can be broken down into a sound bite. I always have to make everything so complicated. :spank:

5. Thanks for posting this.
I've been following the "coingate" story with great interest. It seems that Ohio is one arm of the evil octopus that has the BushCo machine (and Karl Rove) as its head. It continually amazes me the way every piece of news ties in to some scandal and the way it's all interconnected. I do hope that one day the last piece of the puzzle will fall into place and all will be revealed. Not holding my breath, though.

9. I've been following this for a couple of weeks. It's pretty messed up.
The Al Capone analogy is the one that keeps popping up for me, too, TayTay. It's kind of impossible to avoid.

10. I've been keeping an eye on this myself.
It gets bigger all the time. I'm just am not sure where this will all go in the end. I would like to see the corruption reach as far as the SOS Blackwell, head of the Bush/Cheney campaign there and have an investigation prove the money was used to perpetrate fraud and other corruption during the Presidential election, therefore putting the outcome of the election in doubt. (Oh, what a wonderful dream, I can dream can't I?) The man given the responsibility of investing the coins and the one currently under investigation, was a large, long time Bush and republican party donor.Bush and other party members have already returned indirectly, all the money that was given personally to them. I'm telling you, Ohio was this elections Florida. The more I read about the goings on in Ohio, the more angry I become. I just hope the good people of Ohio are angry enough to push for a complete investigation concerning this matter.
