Kennedy is one of the better fighters. And he fully supported Kerry and still does in almost everything Kerry does. Kerry and Kennedy have had each others backs for as long as I can remember. You don't piss one off without pissing the other off. And they have the kind of relationship they may get pissed at each other and give each other hell at times but you let someone else say something or do something they shouldn't to one of them and the other will hang your ass out to dry. LOL People who live in Massachusetts are lucky as hell to have both of them as their senators. Both are great but Kerry is the presidential one of the two.

I suck at chess also. But I'm a hell of a poker player. I am also like you about I love Teddy but nothing near as much as I do Kerry! "Kerry is the man with the plan!" He is my hero and always will be.
I'm glad Kerry wasn't here for all that mess in Washington,D.C. that ended uo being a joke almost. Hell Kerry could have accomplished what happened today on his own. That being discussing and debating voting reform. Shining a light on all the problems that happen during this 2004 election. Which I feel he will make a big front burner issue and was already getting started by getting all of us to call Frist and Hastert. But I don't know about you but almost felt sorry for Boxer after that mess happen. And what was the big pisser is have Democrats stand up and condemn what was being done. My GAWD! Why couldn't they just keep their ass seated and keep their damn mouth shut if they wasn't in favor of what the other dems were doing. Hell all these assholes did was play right into the repukes hands with their ignorant shit!:grr:

but as his constituent, I am very disappointed in Durbin, if he spoke out against the motion. Honestly, I was never that overly impressed with him anyway, but I liked him because he is Dem and he is my Senator. Why can't I live in Massachusetts?

I've always loved Kerry, and that goes back a l-o-n-g way. Back to Vietnam. I don't want to get on your wrong side (:-) ), but he's always been my type. Tall. Lean. Thoughtful. Quiet. Sensitive. So, so smart.
BTW, my husband is all those things too.
I have just always had a gut-level connection with Kerry. I get him. And one of the weird myths about him is that "the people" don't like him. That's utter crap. The press doesn't like him.
There's a story I read about him around last Christmas. I think Joe Klein (TIME) was interviewing him, and Kerry had an eye doctor appointment, so Klein walked over with him so they could keep talking. In the lobby of the doctor's building were some custodians, who said, "Merry Christmas, Senator. As Klein told it, for any other pol this would have the moment to go over and gladhand, slap them on the back and be fake-chummy. Not Kerry. He gave them a slight bow, and said, "Merry Christmas," and smiled. Klein appreciated the respect Kerry showed them by not being phony with them. More people than you might imagine really love Kerry. And by my count, everyone who really gets to know him would basically lie down in front of a truck for him.

30. The press has always had a hard time with Kerry |
|
But a lot of people really like the guy. He has always been a bit quirky, but he has done right by the voters of the state and they have stuck with him. Hell, if Weld and all the press he had going for him couldn't evict JK from his seat, then it can't be done!
I know a lot of people who told me MA Kerry stories last year. I was in Quincy the Sunday after the Convention and (after we talked about the Nomah trade, sigh, Boston, you know) we traded Kerry stories. One woman told me about getting her new car, her first new car, and pulling up to show it off for a friend outside of a hall in Quincy. She said that she saw people across the street and she thought one of them was Sen. Kerry. (He's pretty distinctive, stands out in a crowd, cuz he's so tall.) Anyway, he came across the street and said, "You know what would make that care look even better? One of my bumper stickers." This woman did not want to put a bumper sticker on her car, so she argued with Kerry for a few minutes. She wound up putting the bumper sticker in the back window and everybody was happy. I laughed over that one. I can just see Big John standing there arguing with a constituent about bumper sitckers and new cars. LOL!

And I can totally picture it happening.
BTW, both of my sons have worked at Fenway (the younger one still does), so we are completely Sox-immersed at my house. We even have our own Wally, who has his own Adirondack chair and victory crown.

(Oh dear, that sounds rather odd. WildEyedLiberal, Wally is short for The Wall, the Green Monster at Fenway. It's a doll, honest.)
I have to send away for my Wally. Do you turn him upside down and sideways according to whether or not we are on a winning streak or not. BTW, I love Jerry Remy. He has the best pure Boston accent I have ever heard on a public figure.
They are rebroadcasting the ALCS and Series games on NECN in February. (www.bostondirtdogs.com has the schedule.) I just want to see the last two Yankee games, cuz I can never get enough of those games and the absolute bliss of winning in NYC. (Sorry to NYC Kerry fans. We actually love you a lot. It's the Yankess that we have negative feelings for. You guys rock!)
When did they put out the crowns for Wally? Can you get them from The Remy Report? I want a Wally? I'll trade you a Christmas C... never mind.
I am sox obsessed as well. I cried like a baby when they won. I think I had a seizure when they finally beat NY. I had relatives flying in from all over the country for the parade. Did you go?

I was too Kerry-obsessed at the time, and like a true dour New Englander was afraid the Sox had gobbled up all the New England karma. And I've been a Sox fan since 1967! But that said, beating New York was transcendent. The World Series itself was a bit of a letdown.
Out Wally is signed by Jerry Remy - we ordered it from his website!! And we credit my daughter for the Sox win. When they lost that horrible third game to the Yankees she turned him upside down in his chair. So he stayed that way till just last week. I love Wally. He has such an adorable, slightly enebriated smile.

35. Man, the parade was great! |
|
I was in Copley Square. (Got to see all the construction for the Tuesday night gathering. I was so excited, then, damn!) My brother flew in from Tucson and my nephew flew in from Phoenix, my sister flew in from Colorado. (I took phone calls from all over all during the playoofs. (It's a wonder I got to see the game.)
I still have Game 7 on Tivo. I can't erase it. Every so often I cue it up and look at the faces of the Yankee fans when it began to dawn on them that they were going to lose. (Yes, I am sometimes evil.) I just can't get enough of it.
Copley Square was chock-a-block with Red Sox/Kerry references. I saw 'Threefer' signs everywhere! One brave young lad was walking around with a picture of the SuperBowl trophy, the World Series Trophy and, sigh, The White House. It was quite a thing to experience. Nirvana. We must do this again, soon.
So, when does the van leave for Florida and Spring training?

I know exactly what you mean. I GET him. When I read all about his life, I just sat there, stunned. "Christ... he's just like ME." I have grown to love this man so much it frightens me sometimes.
And in temperament, he reminds me so much of how I would be it's scary. I'm shy, but warm up terrifically if you get to know me. I can't stand dishonesty or deception, fakery or hypocrisy. I just want to make a difference in the world, a positive difference, and I know I am smart and talented enough to do so.
Seriously, I feel such a connection with him. I really wish I knew him (and no, not so I could seduce him :P) I really think we'd hit it off in conversation, because I think he'd GET me too.
