Kerry Articles & Cognitive dissonance
Sen. Kerry published a nice article in the Lowell Sun today. I would love to put it up here so that you can see that it is essentially the same OpEd he wrote for the NYTimes on Iraq but the troglodytes at the Lowell Sun http://www.lowellsun.com/editorials/ci_2842924 refused to put it up at the WebSite. (But the deathless Editorial about uncivil behaviour and cell phones (heavens!) going off in movie theaters was there.) Honestly, the Lowell Sun sucks! (On the bright side, they did use the good pic this time and they did credit him with being the Jr. Senator from MA since 1984, so things are on the upswing as far as Sun-Kerry relations go.)

Also on the plus side, Sen. Kerry was not mentioned as one of those panty-waisted cry-babies who were accused of giving aide and comfort to the enemy br criticizing the war in Iraq. (Course, that was before he wrote the OpEd that appeared today, so there is still time for a Sun retaliatory Ed that will put My Junior Senator's name in the Hall of Shame.) http://www.lowellsun.com/editorials/ci_2835488

And two nice LTTE battles that mention Kerry, but focus on Iraq: First the hippie, peacenik, Dem: http://www.lowellsun.com/archives/ci_2819524

Then the practical, former military, non-peacenik realist (and patriot, this is still the Lowell Sun): http://www.lowellsun.com/archives/ci_2829237

1. The Lowell Sun will never be nice to Kerry
The Sun has hated Kerry since the 70's. We will see a fleet of flying pigs doing barrel-rolls through a snowstorm in hell before they ever willingly say anything nice about him.

My recent move back to Lowell has seriously down-graded the quality of my local newspaper. Although the paper where I used to live (the Eagle-Tribune) also has a right-leaning editorial slant, at least they had some decent reporting of actual news. Unfortunately, it looks like the quality of the Lowell Sun has decreased even further since the days of my youth.

3. Yeah, they really suck!
But on the bright side, at lest Sen. Kerry didn't get out-and-out accused of aiding and abetting Zarqawi. (They left that for that commie Kennedy.)

And they did use the nice pic of Kerry. There is that.

I can't beliee they didn't put the OpEd up on the website. Geez, that's petty.

2. Sen. Kerry's testimony from today's BRAC hearing

This is a video of the 9 minute testimony. Good pics.

I liked the Boston Channel film (Channel Five.) They didn't really let Sen. Kerry speak, but they showed several pleasant pics of him at the rally. (Wow, he really is tall. Either that or Uncle Ted is shrinking. Cuz Uncle Ted only comes up to his ear now.) Oh, and Kerry had to walk in with that friggin retard Romney. Eeeoooowey, yuck. At least he shook hands with people before Romney did, that way he can't get cooties from residuals left by Romney handshakes. (Again Lord, why oh why does Massachusetts, one of your own good Blue States have to put up with this friggin moron Romney? I kow, I know, each day with Romney is good for 20 days out of purgatory, but still.)

4. 2nd military editorialist forgets part of history
It was, in fact, Vietnam that invaded Cambodia to take out Pol Pot and stop the "killing fields". He makes it sound like if we had stayed in Vietnam that the killings wouldn't have happened. I'm not so sure.

However, I agree with him on Iraq -- people who want a simple withdrawal now are purposely ignoring the facts at how strategically important Iraq is. There really is no good solution to the Iraqi problem -- only the drip, drip, drip of death that * is letting happen. I thought about it for a week now, and here is my paraphrase of *'s speech:

"American troops -- you're on your own. I am going to do absolutely nothing to alleviate your suffering. I will neither send more troops (American or otherwise) nor will I withdrawal y'all. Now win this war, so I can have a great legacy! Oh yeah -- and 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, terrorist, terror, terror, terror."
Love,
George

5. Nice post, and I agree, this is a sad, sad situation
I liked these two letters, simply as part of an on-going conversation in America. I want to read both points of view, as they are part of the big canvass of opinion in America over Iraq. (I genuinely like a diversity of opinion.)

I don't think we should just leave. That's irresponsible. I also think that our presence in IRaq makes us a target and helps to destabilizie the country. I think you can hold both points of view without contradiction. I think the Kerry was on to something last week with the idea of US patrolling the border areas. Maybe this is the key to slowly ceeding Iraq back to the Iraqis. (I wish I knew the answer. That's why it's a quagmire.)
