Nice positive thread on people's favorite Dems |
|
When this thread began yesterday, I thought it would turn into a bloodbath, but surprisingly, it stay mostly positive, with people stating their favorites rather than bashing those they do not like. It is good to see how many people say they like Kerry (even when he is not the first one in the list). http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1923748&mesg_id=1923748

There are a handful of people who will forever define Sen. Kerry in light of his IWR vote. They happen to be very vocal on the boards. They also represent the most liberal wing of the Democratic Party. (And constitute, at most, about 5% of the electorate, give or take a few points in a few states. We are talking about the absolute purists.)
Mr. Kerry absorbed the loss and went back to work. The general public, which doesn't follow things all that closely unless something seems to seriously strike a chord, hasn't been taking notice of him all that much. (Which is actually fine for now. It's an off-year. Par for the course.) The liberal base and the activist base is over-represented on the boards like DU and DKos. They were pissed at Kerry because he lost. They also, oddly enough, swoon over him when he makes a statement or a particularly good speech. (Do you guys remember the live threads on DKOS and DU when Kerry spoke about 'the nucular opshun' back in May. It was so loving and sweet I almost needed an insulin shot. How about the love that came his way on live threads during the Bolton hearings? Again, not only was he shown the love, but he also got a lot of "What's up with Kerry?" comments. "Damn he is looking fine today. LOL!" Fickleness, they legions are surely liberals.)
There are a lot of libs on the boards who have actually seen Kerry back at work and voting in a consistently Democratic manner. (Like a real Democrat.) The pain of last fall's loss is lessening and a lot of people want to move on to the next fight. As that happens, Kerry will get better press on DU. (DKos, well, slightly better.)
