Why did Kerry "roll over, cave, etc."? Is anyone tired of hearing that? |
|
I replied under a thread about Cali Congresswoman Barbara Lee (who is cool) and a town hall meeting she had. Somebody asked what was the best question that got asked and it was why did Kerry "roll over" in 04?
Buy anyway, I was wondering if anyone is tired of this? Sometimes I wish that Kerry could just explain what really happened so people like that could STFU, but I asked that question before, so I won't ask again.
I haven't posted in GDP in a while, but I think I will stay out of there again. It's too negative and ugly. :(

Anyway, these days, some are going to attack anybody who disagree with them.
There is a thread attacking Feingold because he voted the Senate version of the Patriot Act out of committee.
There is a thread attacking Durbin because he was polite to Roberts.
They are totally silly and it is more and more difficult to know whether they are trolls or what.

2. I agree with ya though its hard |

I still try to get some political news from like LBN and every time I find myself shaking my head at some dumb remark. I am still astounded they're jumping over Durbin for that politeness to Roberts, what do they expect him to do, spit in his cheerios?

3. I know and I do not always practice what I preach |

I had to answer to the Durbin's thread. That was too dumb.

5. Yes, but some people take AP releases for the Bible |
|
The do not question them. NYTimes has a piece who says the question Durbin and Kennedy intend to ask this Roberts guy, and that explains that the fight is only starting.

I am getting fed up with out side being such cannibals, drives me completely batshit, and those on our side who think in black and white just as willingly as a freeper.

7. I just say Kerry obviously knew something we didn't but |
|
I honestly don't think Kerry knew the extent of the voting fraud at that time :(
Sometimes I feel like we should come up with Kerry talking points.. so when we're "out there" we can all talk the same talk, and maybe people will shut up.
One thing I like to say to the bashers - is 'would you still be saying this if he won?'. I sometimes think people have forgotten just how great he was during the campaign. People I know that started out abbb, ended up thinking Kerry was the best. I try to remind them of that.

8. I don't think he saw provable fraud |
|
It is one thing to believe that funny business went on. It is another thing to prove it. Kerry saw the evidence and decided to concede because he had no other reasonable choice. He did not want to put the nation through another protracted legal fight, particularly when the nation was at war. There is no way that some people will ever accept this. That's just the way things are.
The matter of amending the voting procedures in this country to stop the types of things that we have seen in recent years will not be done on election night. They can only be stopped by prolonged legal and legislative action. There is a group in Ohio that is trying to get a ballot initiative before the people that would remedy some of what went wrong in '06. Things like that have a genuine shot at stopping fraud and abuse in the voting system.

9. I agree - Kerry knew it couldn't have been proven |

But, I did see something on FSTV that disturbed me. They had a special on election fraud. They had a film of someone warning Kerry about black box voting, very early in the campaign season. I've always wondered why Kerry's campaign managers never took care of the issues before the election. Like demanding a paper trail. TayTay, I really believe Kerry won, and it makes me sick. It makes me sick that Az was tied according to polls on Nov 1st, and yet * won by high numbers. Optical scanners in my state, no receipt. I know that lots of groups are working on this, and I just hope things are going to be changed in time for 2006.

and voting is a local issue. It is handled by each state according to each state's rules and regulations. Kerry tried to head it off, that's why there were thusands of lawyers on the ground. (Though, he may have been played on that one. Some of those lawyers weren't his.) Ken Blackwell, by law, had more power over how the vote went in Ohio than John Kerry or anyone at the Dem federal level. And that's a fact, jack.
There is a Dem bill in Congress to set national standards for elections. It will die in committee (or get bottled up and never see the light of day.) This is the 109th (Weasel) Congress, never forget that simple fact. These people have a veted interest in keeping things the way they are. They will do NOTHING to affect change and right the wrongs of the last two elections. (It's not in their interests.)
That's why the Ohio ballot initiative is so important. The people will take matters into their own hands and demand change on their own. And Ohio is roiling from a huge scandal at the moment, so there is a distinct chance that change could come. We need to fund this effort. It may do more to change the outcome of the 2008 than any other single action in this Congress of the 110th to come.
