It is difficult to know who to be more angry with. A few GOP trolls mimicking the DLC program in provoking threads or the other side who takes the bait immediately.

3. It will probably get worse before it gets better

4. I've been offline for a few days

guess I haven't missed much. Back to the usual shit - Democrats suck, DLC is the root of all evil... same old, same old.

5. We'd been doing so well

Really keeping the focus on Rove and Roberts; even finding time to throw a little attention on defense, stem cells, cafta. Then this stupid convention over the weekend and caplooey. If the DLC thinks they're the grown ups of the party, they sure don't know much about keeping the kids in line.

8. Al From is the DLC's own worst enemy

he has a remarkable lack of political timing.

Even when I agree with some of what he has to say - he manages to put it in a way guaranteed to offend someone.

The Rove/Plame story is the chink in the armor we've been waiting five years for. It leads to everything. Now is not the time to be stirring things up and distracting us.

Sometimes I have to wonder whose side Mr. From is really on.

This really burns my butt too. They've got the nerve to slam MM Democrats. But look what they're doing. We've got Republicans introducing some relatively decent child predator legislation, needs a teeny bit of work, but good overall. What great "moral values" and "security" issues are we taking on? Video game ratings and internet porn tax. I mean, puhleeze, how weak-kneed nanny party can you get. Gads.

This seems likes the world's biggest diversion.

Seems like we have bigger fish to fry than the DLC . . . Rove Roberts etc etc.

(I am no fan of the DLC just for the record. They outta shut up. But a lotta people outta shut up, and a lot of people have more power than the DLC (e.g. republicans, bush admin, etc)

9. They're expending a lot of energy on it.

I can understand panic and discouragement. What I do not countenance at all is the self-destructiveness of it all. The mission of any activist is not to exhaust him- or herself with hatred for perceived or real opponents, rivals, or those who differ slightly. We deserve to fail if that's what we're about.

I hope enough people ride this out and get through the process and BACK TO WORK. What's going on out there would have Satan -- err, Karl Rove -- laughing with delight, to borrow a phrase from Don McLean.
