Raw Story: Karen Hughes refused to answer questions about Plame outing
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 07:22 PM by whometense
during SFRC confirmation hearing.

So the dems weren't all awol, hmmmm?

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Karen_Hughes_refused_to_answer_questions_about_Plame_outing_during_confirmation_he_0727.html

Senior Bush adviser Karen Hughes, headed to confirmation in the full Senate for the State Department's top public relations post, provided a terse two sentence answer to questions submitted by Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) about her role and knowledge about the outing of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson, RAW STORY has learned.

Kerry's line of questioning focused on whether Hughes knew Wilson was a covert operative, and whether she had ever spoken with Bush adviser Karl Rove about the agent.

Hughes response was curt: "Because of my ongoing contact with the White House, I was interviewed as part of that investigation and was happy to cooperate, as I noted in my Senate Foreign Relations Committee questionnaire. As you know, these questions relate to an ongoing criminal investigation. I believe that I should honor the prosecutor's request not to discuss this matter until he has completed his investigation."

1. Happy to see that Kerry was on this -

But I guess this bugs me a little bit

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee unanimously approved Hughes' nomination Tuesday to be Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs

I understand why they cannot block all the nominations and I can understand why they choose not to oppose this one, but I guess I would have liked a little more show on it.`

13. Wow! I just love that guy!

Has this made it's way to Du-General or Politics. I ask because Kerry and all the other Dem SFRC members took a lot of heat for not showing up for that hearing last week in the lib-blogs.

Has this been posted on DKos? I think it really should be posted. It's a direct and to the point letter and Hughes evades like crazy.

Kerry has just about been perfect in July. Honestly, I am so pleased with everything he has done. Sigh! We need a Prez like that.

:loveya:.:loveya: :patriot: :applause: :loveya: :loveya:

3. Know what really pisses me off about this?
The righties talking point on Kerry!
On this, and his request for the records to be released on Roberts.

This is what they are saying -
"Ha, ha Kerry. He wants all of these records released, but he never released all of his military records."

They are STILL on this. I have heard this from a couple of repugs, and it was even in an editorial in my paper.

Kerry DID release everything, didn't he?

4. They will never stop.
And yes, he has asked the Navy to release everything to the Boston Globe and the Los Angeles Times.

What drives them crazy is that he has not allowed them to see the records directly, as he knows they would try to distort what was in them.

5. If he runs again, he'll have to
There is nothing in there, is there?
I mean his grades were kinda embarassing, only because he IS so much more intellectual then the shrub.

Hopefully, that was as bad as it will get.

Those righties are just ready to attack, attack, attack. And when it comes to Kerry, they have their talking points already written. :grr:

6. Why?
The records are out anyway.

They have been seen by a ton of people already and these people will not stop, even if he gives them the records. They will find something else again and again.

And so many people have already heard the story and will not care, anyway. Those who care will never vote for Kerry anyway.

7. my only answer
Is just to shut them up already!

But I have to agree, that those who care, will never vote for Kerry anyway.

I just want Kerry to have the respect that he deserves.

12. No there is nothing in there
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 06:24 AM by TayTay
But the actual reasons for three Purple Hearts to be awarded, and the citations for bravery and quick thinking while under fire in actual combat that resulted in the Silver Star Award. The citation for disregarding the danger to himself in order to save the life of another man, Jim Rassman, that got Kerry the Bronze Star is also in there. (And Kerry's commanders wanted to actually put him in for higher awards for his actions, but didn't want it to take too long.) The Silver Star and the Bronze Star are legitimate and earned.

The SBVT liars oppose Kerry for political reasons. They're now lying about the record of Paul Hackett, an Iraq War vet, in the OH-2 special Congressional election. These people are scum. They send the young off to war based on lies and then trash them when they get home and question why they were sent to war in the first place. The scummy liars will never stop. They are bottom-feeding bastards without honor, a real love of what America is actually all about and a desire to harm fellow veterans. A little thing like the truth will only make them laugh and concoct even more lies in order to fight it.

11. Right
And back last year the Navy all okay'd his records. I remember reading about that. Of course they'll never stop. He's a threat to their power. And yes, you can tell Kerry is still going after them.
