You know what makes me want to cry?
What is going on right now with Cindy Sheehan.
Code Pink is going on a hunger strike,

And if John Kerry was the President, NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING!

I hate Bush!

1. Pirhana, I agree with you 100%
If John Kerry was President right now, we might not totally be out of Iraq yet, but you can be damn sure he would bend over backward to meet with Cindy Sheehan or any other concerned and grieving family members of veterans. He KNOWS what it's like to grieve for those lost in combat.

Cindy Sheehan is a TRUE patriot. I hate Bush too.

3. I agree
Iraq just hit home for my son. He just got back from his 10 year class reunion, one of his classmates was there in his Marine uniform, which he is very proud to be a Marine. Now for the sadness, his wife of 8 months got killed in Iraq. My son was floored by that news, and his friend can't wait to get out, he doesn't want to go back to Iraq, it is a death hole in his words.

Bush is destroying our military. I was a Navy wife for 20 years, I went through Vietnam, I had the call, but luckily my husband was not hurt, but 5 other Navy families were not lucky. In the movie " Going Up River" John Kerry says "we have not learned from our mistakes", If only the American people would come to realize how true that statement is. If only Americans were not bamboozled by a bunch of crooks and liars, if only we took to the streets after the hideous irregularities of this election. We would of brought a true :patriot: into the White House, a patriot who loves his country and the men that fought for it and who cares for all his fellow citizens.

I HATE GEORGE W.(WRONG)BUSH and how he is destroying this country.

Cindy Sheehan has more patriotism in her little finger than this cowardly (AWOL) pResident.

4. I see two ways that * is wrong (at least!):
First, their ideology--the idea that if they occupy Iraq and force it to become a democracy that all will be well with the Middle East. A democratic domino effect would ensue and Israel would be safe and the oil would flow our way.

Second, if they just HAD to have a war, they could have at least conducted it well. But no, they were incompetent failures at it, and worse, can't/won't admit it and listen to people who know better.

Now we are stuck with failure and they don't know why or what to do about it. :(

5. that is sooo sad about your son's friend!
Iraq is a death hole! How did she die? Car bomb?

Even reporters have said that in the msm. Everytime they get into a vehicle, they are afraid for their life.

8. I didn't ask
Also another of his friends, in fact this friend lived with us his whole Senior year, because his Mom got transferred to another state with her job, and he wanted to graduate with his friends. Well anyway, he lives in Kansas now, and of course he saw my Kerry stickers on my car and my autographed picture of Kerry on my desk, and he told me he did not vote.

I was shocked, and his reply was, what was the use he lives in a red state and he figured his vote wouldn't of mattered. He is a college graduate. I said you should never think that way, to many people fought for that right and to remember we the people and a few other things. It made me think about how many people thought exactly like he did.

When he left he promised me he would vote and that I made him realize that because he didn't vote, he really didn't have the right to complain, he never thought of it that way.

10. I'm so sorry about your son's friend's loss
That has to be so disheartening for him to lose his wife in Iraq and then face the prospect of having to return there himself. I can't imagine the feelings he must be experiencing.

This morning on the news I heard about a soldier from Emporia (just west of you) who was killed yesterday leaving behind a wife and two children. I go to Emporia every year for a weekend-long bike ride so I know it's a small, rural, tight knit community. I'm sure a death like this affects the entire community. So sad and unnecessary.

15. If JK were president right now
The country would be in good hands.

But the RW noise machine would be going strong. Nevermind which president and party started and promoted the invasion of Iraq--they'd frame it as what is going on now being ALL Kerry's fault--we can be sure that is what they would be screaming now. They'd say something stupid like that the insurgents are emboldened by not having repubs in office.

Everytime the repubs get in and make a mess of it, and the Dems come in and clean up after them, they never learn not to make more messes. At least this time they are stuck with it. And at least Kerry isn't being made the scape goat. Cause that is just what they do.

6. something I would only post here
I wish Kerry would go see Cindy.
In GD they are now attacking Paul Hackett, saying that he should go. It would be great if he did.

You can be sure that Kerry understands where Cindy is coming from. Afterall, he is not a chickenhawk, and he has a heart.

But at the same time, it could be weird politically. She wants to talk to Bush. She already voted for Kerry.

7. I wish Cindy would ask to meet with senators
I think if Kerry (or any other senator) just took it upon him or herself to go and meet with her, it would get blown way out of portion as being political grandstanding. (Unless of course the senator was from Cindy's home state.)

Having said that, I must admit that I was thinking the very same thing (that Kerry should meet with her)this morning when I read Pirhana's op.

9. I've been kind of thinking
I'm glad Kerry isn't President. This stupid Congress would be such a nightmare to work with. He'd be stuck with all these steaming piles of excuses for legislation. He'd have to veto everything, or get hammered for signing this junk. He'd have a horrible time getting anybody to do the right things to get us out of Iraq. It would be a nightmare. Too many people are dieing, but there is such a thing as hitting bottom. Vietnam wasn't bottom, Iran/Contra wasn't bottom, economic recession after recession wasn't bottom, maybe this war will be. Maybe the people in this country will finally learn that the Republican leadership is not and never have been for the people.

12. I had the same thoughts during the election.
As much as I wanted Kerry to win, he would have had one headache after another cleaning up Bush's mess and dealing with Congress...at least until 2006.

But, still I would rather have been fighting for President Kerry, then having to fight EVERYTHING that we are fighting now.

14. a friend of mine says, "People will change their vote when they've
suffered enough pain."

"Well, I have had enough pain!" I said.

But her response was, "Well, for others they need to hit rock bottom before they rise up. You just learned more quickly."

I guess you can say that for all of us here. And Bush sucks, but the Republican congress would have stonewalled him and made him a laughing stock.

I'm working on those 06 elections now! No need to wait.

11. He would have met with her
I think Kerry would have definitely met with Cindy Sheehan, not to patronize her or offer some phony comforting words, but to actually listen to what she had to say and offer some true comfort. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he did meet with her in the coming days. I think pirhana is right, this would not be happening if Kerry was President, even though we would not be out of Iraq, we would definitely be putting an exit strategy together.

I heard on the AAR this morning that 65% of Americans are now against the Iraq war and that 50% consider us less safe. Maybe the sheeple are finally waking up?
