And now for something completely different...
a momentary respite from the tragedy in the South.

"Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons, and you will find that it is to the soul what the water bath is to the body."

    - Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809 - 1894)

Here's what I can't stop listening to right now:

    HENRYK GORECKI
Symphony No. 3, Op. 36, "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs"

What soothes your soul?

1. Well, my husband just came back from NYC
and dropping my daughter off at School. Ahm, having him back, was, ahm, nice and, ahm, comforting.

Blush, blush.

2. Beatles music
I like classical music, but the music most likely to change my mood and make it more optimistic is the music of my adolesence. So, I guess it soothes my soul in a very energic way.

3. Josh Groban music (how dorky am I?)
Or going for a bike ride (soothing in a manic way) or taking a walk on the beach.

Anyone here a Randy Newman fan?? His album Good Old Boys is all about Louisiana, and includes the prescient Louisiana 1927

What has happened down here is the winds have changed
Clouds roll in from the north and it started to rain
Rained real hard and it rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline

The river rose all day
The river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood
Some people got away alright
The river have busted through clear down to Plaquemines
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangelne

Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a note-pad in his hand
The President say, "Little fat man isn't it a shame what the river has done
To this poor crackers land."

Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
