When a reporter asked if whether Cheney was "getting a lot of that," Cheney started to reply, "Must be a friend of John. . . " and then broke off with a curt "Never mind." People of course are speculating that the vice president was going to finish the sentence with "Kerry." But that's just unfair: The administration has made it plain that it will not stand for the politicization of this national tragedy. Our theory is that he recognized the heckler as an old friend of John Bolton--especially since, if you view the footage closely, the man is plainly preparing to hurl a stapler. -- HOLLY MARTINS

4. They replayed this on Cspan an hour or so ago

complete with the "Go fuck yourself, Mr. Cheney - Go fuck yourself" bit. (They had a warning of explicit language on the screen.) What I found odd about Cheney's after comment, was that he thought the person who said that did it because he "must be a friend of John ...". Really. Does he actually believe (standing in the midst of death, destruction and utter chaos) that the only thing the person who made the comment had on his mind was last year's election? Has he really been hiding out in his lair that long? Does he think it's mid-November '04? Surely the guy's comment had nothing to do with the total incompetence and heartlessness of the Bush/Cheney Administration*. Nah - that couldn't be it. You heard the man Mr. Cheney, go fuck yourself.

6. The blame game

That's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this. How incredibly ignorant Cheney is.Here is a victim of this disaster, that tells Cheney exactly what he thinks of his little photo-op bullshit session, and Cheney tries to put that victim down by saying it must be a friend of John, and we all know he had to hold that tongue in far to not say Kerry, what an asshole, God how fucking lame, he has no heart, and the one he does have does not even tick on it's own. Also when the reporters all chuckled after his little blame comment was disgusting.Must of had the WH media shills with him.

Those shills should of asked him , now who did you say last year could not protect our country? I think it is time for a true factual book with the title "Unfit for Command", with a chapter on each one of these bastards, it would end up being bigger than Clinton's book.

Everytime I see him I think of that James Earl Jones voice in Star Wars and him saying, "Give me the location of the Rebel base or else your planet gets it." LOL! Thisnis just a modified version of Cheney the mean attack dog.

laughed at his lame attempt at humor. That was just kind of creepy. It was like they were afraid NOT to laugh. Mr. Cheney is a bad, bad man.

Capitol Hill Blue seems to know:

Ben Marble, a Gulfport resident who says he’s a doctor, had the guts to wade into Vice President Dick Cheney’s carefully-staged photo op Thursday and say what many residents of the Gulf Coast wanted to say to the politicians who sat on their butts while the people of Mississippi and Louisiana lay dead and dying.

"Go fuck yourself Mr. Cheney," Marble screamed just off camera as the event played out live on CNN. "Go fuck yourself you asshole!"

Secret Service agents subdued Marble and CNN yanked the video off its web site but copies of it float around the Internet and Marble, who’s homeless after Katrina destroyed his Gulfport home, is offering a copy for sale on EBay.

Republicans, of course, jumped in with carefully-crafted indignation over Marble’s "inappropriate remarks" to Cheney, forgetting the Vice President used the same words to tell off a Senator just last year.

Cheney offered his outburst of obscenity because that Senator had the gall to question his relationship with scandal-scarred Halliburton, the company he used to run and that’s now ripping off taxpayers in Iraq. All Marble had to be upset about was loss of his home, death of close friends and family and destruction of the city he loved.

Yet Marble, who also plays with punk rock bands in the Gulfport area, could become the symbol of frustration felt not only by residents of the hard hit area but every American who recoils in shock and anger at the government’s lackluster and uncompassionate response to the horror, death and destruction left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. . . .(more...)
