See this article from: http://www.wpri.com/Global/story.asp?S=3835398

9/12/05
BOSTON Senator John Kerry leaves from Logan Airport this morning to deliver supplies to hurricane victims in Louisiana.
The shipment of water, food and medical supplies is expected to be delivered to a supply distribution center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Kerry's chartered plane is scheduled to depart at 7:40 a-m.
Kerry is still accepting donations in Boston and plans to make more deliveries in the coming weeks.

Also in New Orleans today: John Kerry, who'll help deliver two semi-trucks filled with supplies. Kerry plans to leave Boston this morning on a cargo plane donated by UPS to deliver the supplies to distribution centers. Per a spokeswoman, Kerry and wife Teresa have donated $250,000 to relief organizations.

1. I wonder if he is flying the plane
Where does he get all that energy from? Did you notice the snarky comment on Hillary from CNN. After all the huricane stuff, they mention she is having a fund raiser "the day after the anniversary of 911". I'm not pro-Hillary, but that justposition - with both the hurricane and 911 is not fair. How many days a year are we suppose to mourn 911?

2. I don't know, but he should be back in DC later on today
There are some votes scheduled for 5:30 or so tonight in the Senate.

I'm still looking for a floor speech this week. I know that the Roberts hearings will suck up a lot of the Congressional press, but I would still like to hear from Kerry on the storm, his wonderful plans for recovery (I read a much longer press release that listed everything Kerry has proposed and it is wonderful and very comprehensive. I haven't posted it here because it has already been here in it's various pieces. But seeing it all together is just amazing. It's a wonderful list of common sense programs.)

29. It would be great if he could get enough Republican support
to pass it. The country needs it and at least the parts I saw seem to make so much common sense.

Kerry heads South with planeload of hurricane relief supplies

Sen. John Kerry flew south Monday with a planeload of supplies for Hurricane Katrina victims largely donated by Massachusetts businesses.

On board the UPS Boeing 757 were 5,000 bottles of baby formula donated by Children's Hospital, 5,000 pairs of sneakers from New Balance and an array of cleaning supplies from the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

....

"Everything that any of us can do is so welcome, and it provides just a little bit of help at an extraordinary time," Kerry, D-Mass., said before he flew to Louisiana to help distribute the supplies and meet with local government officials.

....

"I think it is not a new criticism that the Homeland Security Department is not funded properly and they haven't had the kind of leadership necessary to prepare," Kerry said. He said Michael Brown, head of the Federal Emergency Management agency, should be fired, not reassigned as he was last week.

4. And this spin on the story is just delicious

BOSTON Even as President Bush tours flooded New Orleans and gets an update today on hurricane relief efforts, his rival from last year's election is also headed that way.

Senator John Kerry left Boston today on a U-P-S cargo plane loaded with supplies for hurricane victims. They were donated by Massachusetts businesses.

The supplies include five-thousand bottles of baby formula from Children's Hospital, five-thousand pairs of sneakers from New Balance and cleaning supplies from the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

Kerry would not directly criticize the Bush administration for its relief efforts, but said he has warned about underfunding at the Homeland Security Department.

He also said it's "not rocket science" to suggest that the country should prepare for future hurricanes by pre-positioning supplies so that they can be quickly moved into an area after a storm.

It's not rocket science to intelligent people. It's like rocket science, brain surgery and advanced physics all rolled into one for the idiots in the * Admin. Sigh! And I just love that (coincidentally) * and Kerry are both in the region today. I wonder which one gets booed or told to 'Go F*** yourself."

5. I also love that they say he does not criticized him directly when
others said he asked for Brown's resignation or stated that FEMA and homeland security was underfunded. What do they need to say he criticized them?

Not posting it as it is not worth a read (just found it when I was looking at Kerry's editorial).

A little of that Kerry snark. Gotta love it.

On edit: There are over 49 news outlets carrying the story. Nice work, Senator. ;-)

15. Oh My God
You've got to read the Newsmax take. It is totally hilarious; reads like a freaking parody:

John Kerry's Katrina Aid Arrives Late

Billionaire Democratic Sen. John Kerry has finally sent his own aid package to hurricane-ravaged New Orleans more than two weeks after the storm hit - and a week after most of the city had been successfully evacuated by the Bush administration.

Kerry traveled to New Orleans on Monday aboard a UPS Boeing 757 loaded with 5,000 bottles of baby formula, 5,000 pairs of sneakers and an array of cleaning supplies, the Associated Press said.

"Everything that any of us can do is so welcome, and it provides just a little bit of help at an extraordinary time," the Massachusetts Democrat told the AP.

But rather than pay for the aid using his wife's ketchup fortune - which the Los Angeles Times estimated last year at over a billion dollars - Kerry's aid package was donated by Boston's Children's Hospital, the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans and the New Balance sneaker company.

UPS donated the plane, the flight crew and fuel, trucks and drivers to transport the goods to Logan International Airport and then to disperse them to Baton Rogue and Lafayette, La.

It's not clear what, if anything, Sen. Kerry paid for.

Funny how they managed to leave out the part about how John and Teresa have so far donated $250,000 to the relief effort. It is to laugh. What these people are willing to do to prop up the chimperor...

24. Well, talking of DU-GD*, what is the problem with Gore's supporters
They seem as if they were afraid that somehow this would hide Gore's good deed. This is getting totally silly. This is not a competition of who will do the best.

28. I wonder how many DU Gore supporters were
Dean people who needed a new candidate. Some are definately Gore supporters but some are supporting a Gore as real as the Dean they supported.

- They think Gore is way to the left of Kerry
- They think Gore fought much harder - but ignore that Gore then disappeared for 18 months, while Kerry is working continuously on how to correct factors that caused us to lose. (I think both should be given a huge amount of credit for the grace each showed when there was no more hope.)

26. You want to repeat that again:

a week after most of the city had been successfully evacuated by the Bush administration.

Okay, these idiots need to come back from the planet Mars with this. Jesus, is this how the far right views things? Like somehow New Orleans is a foreign country that the Bush administration had to come rescue? WTF? They think that the American people, American cities and these united states of america are completely on their own and should fend for themselves, while Norquist is drowning the federal government in the bathtub? Don't these f**kers believe in a real federal government? Unlike 9/11, it's easy to show how unbelievably superior Clinton was in using FEMA. Okay, no more Newsmax posts, guys. Even in jest, I just don't have the stomach for those Nazis. F**king propaganda of the worst kind.

particularly Baton Rouge and Lafayette. But what can we expect from these ones.

Even worse, Chronwatch has a piece talking about Swift Boat and Silver Star. They dont know where to begin.
