1. I saw him on a previous vote
really talking heatedly with Sen. Sweetie (Durbin.) Then I saw him talking with Sen. Landreiu. He should speak about his trip to the disaster area and about accountability.

speaking with Snowe and Frist and Reid, then was at his seat , now he is on the floor again with Snowe and Frist and Harkin. These votes take to long, they are voting on the Independent Commission of Katrina. Should be interesting.

NO to every help that could actually help people.

Kerry, Landrieu Fight for SBA Disaster Loan Extension
Tuesday, September 13, 2005

WASHINGTON -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.), Ranking Member of the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Senator Mary L. Landrieu (D-La.) today repeated their call for the Small Business Administration to extend the deadline for small-business owners affected by Hurricane Katrina to file applications for disaster loans.

On September 1, 2005, Kerry and Landrieu wrote to SBA Administrator Barreto asking him to extend the deadline for the SBA’s Physical Disaster Loans by six months. Today in a follow-up letter, they expressed their disappointment that the SBA has yet to grant, or even respond, to that initial request.

“It is imperative that the SBA act expeditiously with respect to this disaster so that the victims of Hurricane Katrina have the time to apply for the relief that they so desperately need,” Kerry and Landrieu wrote. “Three months is simply not enough time for affected businesses to apply for assistance given the scope of the disaster, displacement of victims, and lack of access to resources and documentation.”

The Senators pointed out that other agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, have already acted to extend their program deadlines for citizens impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

3. He looks pretty twitchy.
I guess he's got some stuff on his mind. ;-) I hope he really lets it rip!

How's the vote going? Strict party lines?

4. Yup. The last two votes to
go against procedure failed. They need 3/5ths to pass one and they don't have a chance in hell.

Kerry does look twitchy. And he's making those big sweeping hand gestures. Wonder what's up. And I hope he makes a big whomping speech.

5. Sigh! now that'a good Democrat
All excellent proposals for excellent reasons. I loved the line about Halliburton getting big contracts from the Govt, and that small bus. should too!

8. How dumb are they
On the other hand, if they want to leave, well, don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.

Have fun storming the castle!

9. The Kerry = DLC thing is one of the most ridiculous things
I've seen. If there is one thing I don't think of when I think of JK, it is the DLC. He is one of the more liberal senators on social issues but fiscally responsible. That isn't DLC. That should just be the Democratic Party.

11. He is in the list - that is all that count for them
One of them told me that all they had to do was to leave the DLC and they would support them (He would not support Spitzer for the NY Governor's race but he would if he left the DLC (all he has to do is to ask to be unlisted, as Obama did- this shows you how their conviction is deep)).

15. Probably Mary Landreiu
Sen. Kerry said she wanted t speak in support of the SBA amendment.

Excellent legislation, btw. Excellent. Of course that means it probably won't pass. Not enough money for Halliburton.
