At a NASCAR race in NH, (NOT Windsurfing. Got That Mr. Leno, NASCAR. Got that George Snuffelupagus? Geez, why can't they run this.)

SPARK PLUGS: The crowd, estimated at 101,000, gave the track 22 sellouts in as many Cup races. ... Among the celebrities on hand Sunday were New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch and U.S. Sen. John Kerry. ... Newman's victory was his second at NHIS in eight races. He also won in September 2002. ... The victory was the 57th in NASCAR for team owner Roger Penske, who also owns more than 100 victories in open-wheel racing. ... Rusty Wallace, who was sixth in the race, has been running at the finish of a series-high 40 consecutive races.

Apparently is was a hell of a race, with some bad feeling on the track that made for a violent day. Hope it was fun Sen.

NASCAR threatens penalties after rough race

Associated Press
9/18/2005 6:51:37 PM

LOUDON, N.H. (AP) - NASCAR was threatening very heavy penalties Sunday after tempers ran hot during the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway.

NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter said after the race that penalties against several drivers involved in incidents Sunday would be announced by Tuesday, at the latest.

''We're going to do whatever we need to do, whether it's to park a guy for a week or park a guy for nine weeks,'' Hunter said. ''We're going to do whatever we need to do to prevent retaliation on the racetrack, particularly under the caution (flag), because under the caution they're endangering other people.

''There are safety vehicles riding around and they don't have rollcages and all the things these drivers have around them, so we'll do whatever we need to do.''

Wonder if we'll start to hear soon how NASCAR racing is for elitist and real men like mudwrestling or something. Geesh.

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., questioned whether Bush would pursue his tax-cutting agenda in the face of mounting hurricane costs.

"Does the White House want to stick the reservists and soldiers coming home to a devastated Gulf Coast with the tab for reconstruction, or will he table his quest for special-interest tax giveaways?" he said.

2. Fantastic quote - Isn't this at least 3 perfect, short, totally on target
slams on Bush's policies. Have a great time tomorrow - that has to be a fantastic speech, given his comments.

NASCAR in NH? Are those two clues that he's running.

3. Not sure. He's come up before for NASCAR
He's a fan. There are NASCAR fans in New England and the Loudon track, as far as I remember, goes back a ways. (I usually stay off the roads when it's a big race weekend. 101,000 people attended. That's 1/12th of the pop of NH or just about. So the traffic is awful. Can't get anywhere on Rte 3, sigh!)

I think the fact that the PAC gave $8,000 to the incumbent mayor of Manchester is more indicative of running that attending NASCAR is. That a nice piece of change.

4. Bush is a POS and Kerry is right on target of course...
Incidentally, there's likely to be more hurricane devastation along the Gulf Coast in a week. :( I only hope and pray it's not the same area. What we've been seeing in Florida and the Gulf Coast the past two years is probably going to continue for at least another 10 years. This country cannot AFFORD the ** agenda.
