His speech today made me cry |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 09:34 PM by WildEyedLiberal
This is why I am a Democrat. Men like John Kerry are the reason I am a Democrat; why my family are Democrats; why good people with big hearts are Democrats. Because. We. CARE.
I expected this speech, of all things, to earn tons of kudos from DU. I was wrong. I honestly could care less what becomes of this site, most days... if only we could pick up this forum and move somewhere independent. I delivered my thoughts on these ghouls in the greatest page thread quoting his emails (not blm's). It had more haters. I am tired, tired, tired of this place. My only solace is knowing that my big, strong, good man, my John, :loveya: is a man of inestimable courage, honor, and integrity, and that he WILL be the best president America has ever had; that TONS of people the nation over know this, too (TayTay turned away at 4 pm! John gets the crowds of a ROCK STAR!); and that all of you, my gentle friends, know his heart as well. And you are all such good, good people. I am proud to know you all. We are united in our integrity, our kindness, and our love for America and for what it can acheive under the steady hand of a gentle and good leader.

I am dead serious. I LOVE THIS FORUM AND ALL OF YOU WONDERFUL, PATRIOTIC, COURAGEOUS, HONORABLE LIBERALS! In the face of evil neocons, idiotic conservatives, and hateful, backstabbing lefty freepers, you and everyone here are a beacon of light and hope for America's future. You would make John proud. :patriot:

I think this was my favorite part of the speech:
The administration is recycling all their failed policies and shipping them to Louisiana. After four years of ideological excess, these Washington Republicans have a bad hangover -- and they can't think of anything to offer the Gulf Coast but the hair of the dog that bit them.
And amazingly -- or perhaps not given who we’re dealing with -- this massive reconstruction project will be overseen not by a team of experienced city planners or developers, but according to the New York Times, by the Chief of Politics in the White House and Republican Party, none other than Karl Rove -- barring of course that he is indicted for "outing" an undercover CIA intelligence officer.
WEL, there are lefty freepers around. (And I saw their future. Brrrr. Not good.) But there are also tons of people who really liked this. They are 'our people' and they are out there. There were also a ton of great comments from people who commented that this was just what they have been waiting to hear. So there is hope.
Oh and boy do I ever want to 'just make out with him' today. Seriously, OMG! That was mui, mui macho stuff. :loveya: (OMG! Just reading the damn thing gave me the vapors. :loveya: OMG!

3. It was an AMAZING speech |
|
Every paragraph gave me shivers. I am serious: this is one for the ages, to go down in the history of American liberalism alongside the words of such honorable patriots as Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King.
And dear Lord, yes, I just want to jump him right now. There is NOTHING sexier than a big, strong, gentle, HOT man with the courage and integrity to follow his BIG HEART and do what's right.
And yes, I know, there have been lots of good words from real Democratic patriots here tonight. These are the people who will help us win back the country. But the haters know who they are and so does everyone else, and so help me God, they will not wrest this precious victory from us. Our American patriotism will not allow them.

That is one speech I can look at and say, "Damn! I wouldn't change a single word It's perfect." I loved it. I hope to gawd someone has a tape becuase I would love to see how it played out live. I bet it was a raucous gathering.
Funny that no Brown students have checked into DU and posted that they saw it. Sheer chance favors that there would be at least one DUer who attends Brown and saw it.
And you rock too sweetie! You just freaking rock.

11. Did you see that a commenter over at |

DKos said he thought that "hair of the dog" part was a sly allusion by Kerry to W's alcohol abuse.
I admit I hadn't thought of it that way, but sly allusions are one of John's specialties.
And WEL, FABULOUS rant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was much more positive than negative, heck, it was the flowers and candy Rummy was looking for... compared to last November!! But you knocked 'em for a loop and I think every time somebody does that, it makes another one of them slink away. I just can't wait for the rest of the speeches; and to say, "oh yes he DID say that last year".

I read it very slowly, so I could take in every word. This is the man that should be President.
I have never been so inspired or so proud to be a Democrat since Bobby Kennedy. John Kerry brought that supressed feeling out in me and not only me but more importantly my voting age kids. They found out what a true Democrat stands for.
As for the naysayers, I think they need to grow up and quit playing the blame game. They think everyone else is hurting the Democrats when in reality, they are the problem the Democrats have right now.
