Interesting comment in the Nation
Reading John Nichols's piece about Robert's confirmation, I found this paragraph, that I found interesting considering both its source and the view many people on DU have.

So according to this person, John Kerry is not one of the centrist in the Senate, but paty of the "more reliably progressive members".

I wonder how some of our friends on GD would react at this idea (which is globally true IMHO).

Ultimately, however, most of the Democratic votes in opposition to confirmation came from the chamber's more reliably progressive members, including: Hawaii's Daniel Akaka and Daniel Inouye, California's Barbara Boxer, New Jersey's John Corzine, Minnesota's Mark Dayton, Illinois's Richard Durbin and Barack Obama, Iowa's Tom Harkin, Massachusetts's Edward Kennedy and
John Kerry, Maryland's Barbara Mikulski and Paul Sarbanes, Rhode Island's Jack Reed, Nevada's Harry Reid, New York's Charles Schumer and Michigan's Debbie Stabenow.

2. here's what I think today--maybe I'm in a generous mood
There's peer pressure over in the main part of DU. The dozen or so Kerry haters are persistent and frequent posters of Kerry-hate. Then the wanna-bes chime in--the ones who just want to fit in. The haters set the tone for everyone else, and a lot of people are afraid to contradict. We aren' because we are armed with a lot of facts and contrary evidence and are willing to bother to post links and stuff.

The reason I think this is true is that when someone posts a positive post on JK, many times before the haters find it, there will be a lot of good responses from people about him. Names not familiar in this group, I mean.

Do you see the same thing? Is it always the same tired old names doing the bashing? They are relentless, almost as if they were getting paid to do it!

Of course JK is one of our more progressive Dems. These people need to get a few more facts thrown in their faces. Oh yeah, the far-right and far-left don't care about facts--silly me.
