Kerry event in (gasp) Massachusetts, Oct 30th
Edited on Tue Oct-04-05 08:11 AM by TayTay
And it's like meaningful and serious and fun and, gulp, like exercise and stuff. http://www.massdems.org/cfcalendar/mdp_cal.cfm

Detail: : : 1:00 PM
March with Congressman John Lewis and Senator John Kerry
Congressman John Lewis will be joined by Senator Kerry in leading a commemorative march along a route similar to that of a march led by Dr. King in 1965 to protest the segration of Boston public schools. Please show your commitment to civil rights and the importance of political engagement by walking with us.

Location: First Church in Roxbury (10 putnam street, Boston)

So now can we have a meetup?

I may not make it all the way to Roxbury for the start, because of my penchant of getting lost, but I damn right and well can find 5,000 people somewhere in Boston. (Geez, at least at the Common if all else fails.) Anyway, this is a wonderful event, a chance to see John Lewis (wow!) and hear some speakers on the Common. I'm so there. (As soon as I can find there -- anyone want to meet me and guide me to 'there'?)

the day before at BC as well. No promise of Kerry there, though.

I might do the march. The whole weekend is very BC-heavy.

2. Ooooh, I want to do the March too!
They have to come down Columbus Ave in Dot, and I actually know how to get there on the 'T'. (Okay, getting lost is a big deal for me, I have this phobia.) I so want to do this, as the Voting Rights Act is up for renewal and this is a wonderful idea.

Maybe we can make dinner plans for after.

4. That sounds like fun.
We could meet somewhere along the route. Or we could meet before and find the march together.

5. I wish you could come
too.

There may well be a gazillion people there and we might not even be able to see a certain distingushed senator with a full head of silver hair.

6. I hope there are a bazillion people there
This is an excellent cause. (I almost wish they could approach the Common by way of Beacon Hill and go the route of the African-American Heritage Trail. That would be very sweet.)

7. I registered!
I wonder if there will be a large turnout. I suppose a lot of that will be a function of how well they publicize it.

8. Argh! I'm busy that day
Sundays are usually bad for me schedule-wise, at least in the afternoons.

9. i would love to see this on TV
of course we all love Kerry but John Lewis is someone everyone should admire.

there was a show about heroes or something and McCain named Lewis as one of his heroes.

10. It should get local press, maybe we can e-mail C-Span and ask
them to cover at least the speeches on the Common. That would be nice.
