I think a big part of the "Chavez-love" can be explained by intense disgust at our own government's actions.

It's one thing to criticize another foreign leader, quite another to be getting involved militarily. I oppose this kind of foreign policy!

And regardless of the details of Kerry's position on Venezuela, Plan Colombia, etc, I am sure that his foreign policy would be based on diplomacy and rationality - a big improvement over the mess * is creating.
