Bono Interview in Rolling Stone |
|
OK, so I'm reading the latest issue of Rolling Stone in the gym today. Bono. Awesome.
Here's a quote re Sen Kerry...
"The money was low in the Global health Fund, and Congress has been heroic, in my opinion in pushing those numbers up, particularly coming from the Senate. John Kerry and Dick Durbin have been heroes. And on the right..."
wait for it...
"Rick Santorum."
Noooooo. Bono. Say it isn't so. It is not possible. You must have him confused with someone else. Maybe you were sick that day, and it just LOOKED like Rick Santorum, but it wasn't really him. OK, I give up. Santorum must have done something good. That's one, but he's got a long, long way to go.

1. I always thought it was a sacrilege to mention John Kerry |
|
and Rick Santorum in the same paragraph. Then again, I'm not very religious so I might have it confused with something else.
Do you think Ricky Boy even knows who Bono is? He just doesn't seem like he's that in touch with the 20th or 21st centuries to me.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=175x7588Later I think Bono came out against pols using his concerts as fundraisers. Hillary was doing it too.

3. I think he doesn't like them using his concerts |
|
but he doesn't mind going to them for his causes. I think that's as it should be. He does a lot of good, and I like that our Senators support his work. I just can't figure out how Santorum fits in. He's such a slimeball.

4. Ok I'm obviously wrong |
|
about the Santorum knowing who Bono is part, but am I at least correct about the other part?

5. I actually believe it's a mortal sin to mention Kerry and |
|
'he who will not be named' in the same sentence. But only venial if mentioned in the same paragraph. Either way, there's 'Hail Marys' involved.

6. Damn, I always get the severity of my sins mixed up. |
|
Better to ere on the side of caution though I always say. And sorry I mentioned "he who will not be named". If it's okay, I'll use my get out of sin free card for that one.

7. Kerry, Durbin and what!!!! |
|
Senator Perfect is associating with that sinful liberal from Masschusetts (the home of sin, ferchrissakes)? OMG! He is going to have to do some heavy penance for that. The Right Wingers will never forgive him.
On a high note, I did read somewhere that other Rethug Senators are starting to disassociate from Santorium. Seems like he has the stench of loser hanging about him and they don't want to be infected with it. Ah, revenge is sweet.

8. I take some comfort in that Bono didn't call S a hero, |
|
they way he did Sen Kerry and Sen Durbin.* All he really said was that S was on the right, which is true. At least that's my interpretation. Of course I had to re-read it several times to make it come out that way.
Bono, Bono, Bono...WHY, WHY, WHY??? I'm so disappointed.
This is interesting, though. Here's a quote about Clinton:
RS: "What's your take on Bill Clinton?"
Bono: " I love him. I see him all the time. We're going to have lunch next Sunday, I think. The kids, we'll all go around to his house. His third act is the one to watch. He may end up doing more good out of office than he did in - and he did an awful lot when he was in. I know the thing that maddens him most is what happened with the Middle East peace process. He nearly had that deal done. I've only seen him lose his temper once, and it was over that."
Damn, he does like Bill, doesn't he?
*IB, I think if you use initials there's no sin involved.
