What is up with C-Span ?

Why is JK's speech not up for viewing? This is really starting to piss me off. Please let them know how you feel.

I could not watch last night and was hoping that I could stream it.

Cspan is clearly ignoring Kerry, as many other media.

2. They showed it 3 times last night

I originally thought they were blowing off JK, when a rumor circulated that they weren't even taping it, but then they gave him good coverage. Sometimes it takes time for things to get into the archives. It may show up later today. They might even be planning to re-show it over the weekend; hard to say.

Meanwhile, I TIVO'd it at a friend's house, and if anyone wants me to run off a videotape copy, I can do it. I'll just need reimbursement for videotape and postage -- I don't know, it might run to $5 per person, maybe less. I'd need to know ASAP if you think you may want a copy, though, so I can run off copies immediately -- I can't leave large items sitting on my friend's TIVO indefinitely, they get justifiably annoyed about that.

*that* I can only do with vid capture of their streaming video -- and I'm happy to do that for you if you want. The copies I can make that are higher quality are videotapes taped from a TIVO; I don't know how to do TIVO-to-go, though I could ask my friends, but I don't know what software you need to watch it. I just thought if anyone missed the speech entirely, I could send them a copy.

I'm very fuzzy on the details of how people get video from tv up on the web.

What I meant was that I save streams so that even after websites take them down, I can watch them again from my hard drive. That's how I'm able to save things like video clips that are posted to the websites for local TV stations.

Noisy Dem, hub has had something like 4 tivos... keeps buying the "latest and greatest." As far as I know, taping from Tivo is very simple. Just put in the tape and hit "download to tape." The tape should be abled to be played on any vcr machine.

That is, if I understood what you were saying above. :-)

I haven't seen the speech yet, but will keep trying C-Span. Just missed the last airing.

is anyone else having problems with it. Every other video comes up for me except Kerry's. want to know if anyone else is having problems before I write to them again today.

then I went and clicked on the stand-alone real player at C-Span and then clicked on the speech and it came up fine. Don't know why.

12. Need to contact to C-Span

I think now is the perfect time for everyone to contact C-Span and let them know we want to see more of JK's speeches and events on C-Span.

Originally they planned to tape it and possibly live-cast then they weren't going to and then they did. There was a lot of confusion but the upshot is it would be very helpful if we want to see more of JK on C-Span if we let them know, that we appreciate they taped it, and we want MORE! I heard somewhere else that this would be helpful.

That might explain why the woman at C-SPAN who spoke to my friend said they weren't covering it at all!

Kerrygoddess, do you have any thoughts on which, if any, is the most effective way to contact C-SPAN on this? When I called once to complain about the lack of Kerry coverage, I was given the snail address of the producer of Road to the White House; another time, I was told that the main e-mail address is a direct conduit to the decision-making producers at the network. Are our phone calls effective or ignored, do you think?

17. I noticed this during the campaign.

I noticed during the campaign, everytime I tried to pull up one of his rally's, it said link not available. I then tried a few of The Missing Links and his always came right up. Closed them right away of course.
