Someone on GD just said Kerry was "too presidential"
Edited on Mon Oct-31-05 05:10 PM by WildEyedLiberal
And that that was what made him a bad candidate.

WTF?

THAT was a total head-scratcher. I thought we were VOTING for who would make the best president, not who would make the best action movie hero, or the best West Wing Jed Bartlett impersonator.

(That said, I personally believe that Kerry nicely fulfills all of the above. Every time I watch that Harrison Ford movie "Air Force One", I can just picture him throwing down on some terrorists with a vengeance.)

1. Yeah, I saw this one/
But he wants to vote for a cheerleader who is not a cheerleader, somebody charismatic like Dennis Kucinich, and somebody who supports gay marriage and is against the war in Iraq like Dean (short version).

So, I think I have to disagree with him about how he sees people.

we eventually agreed that we could support who inspired us w/o lecturing the other one.

This thread is a disgrace. It compares Hill and Kerry's position on Iraq as the same one and the person who started it apparently does not even support her.

4. It was his parents' fault - they insisted on those impeccable
manners, high moral values and sense of duty. What were they thinking? If the lefty freepers wanted a jerk, they could keep Bush.

5. I agree with you Karyn!
Shrub is about the most unpresidential President I can ever remember. If they want someone unpresidential occupying the White House, their wish has already been granted! Bottom line, I WANT my president to be better and smarter than I am - he (she) is supposed to be the leader of the freakin' free world for goodness sake!

11. You have hit on something there...
The lefty freepers do secretly want Bush, I think, although it's a really warped psychological thing that they have going... They love to hate him, basically, and that trumps everything else. Like their counterparts on the right, their hate is the driving force behind their politics. There were actually threads on DU at this time last year like "what would we do without Bush as president???" and they were serious. Entire threads about how they would cope with the object of their hate removed from the public.

3. The entire thread was annoying - I think they made it a Hillary
thread, so they could bash Kerry without us seeing. It was also strange timing because Kerry has done almost everything they wanted:
- He pushed investigation of DSM (in the proper context and place)
- He has the strongest, most specific Iraq withdrawal plan that has no bases
- He said "fraud" and has pushed election reform
- He has been to many states to help build grassroots and support candidates
- He has been one of the strongest, most consistent Bush opponents

Short of finding a Boston phonebooth and flying out of it as a superhero with powers to round up the entire Bush cabal - which is not possible what more could they humanly want him to do.

I wish I knew Hillary's real positions - I assume she will have to publisize them next year, but she has been pretty silent on Iraq and the investigation of the intelligence - and the cynical part of me says it's because she is waiting to see the response to Kerry's moves. (If they gain sway, she'll likely come in with a big splash with vaguely similar plans and pretend they are new.)

But at least that guy tipped his hand - if one of his first critisisms is that he is to Presidential and was anti-war or pro-gay marriage like Dean - this is a troll or a pretty dumb Deaniac who doesn't know his own candidates positions. Why they think a candidate who would be willing to act un-Presidentially would be more likely to win is beyond me.

8. Well I missed that one, thank god
I could not take one more gloom and doom post about the Dems fighting Alito or they were going to take their marbles and go home. Now there's a talking point, marbles are much smaller than balls, you can them and go home cuz they're too small to be of any use anyway.

10. Good point.
Personally, I skip over employees who are too dedicated.
I avoid dating men who are smart, attractive and sensitive.
When I choose my friends, I look for assholes. Can't be hanging out with fun, caring people.
I also look for lettuce that is wilted, milk that is set to expire, and high gas prices.

WTF is wrong with people?
