1. will they listen?
he's right of course, and pretty much giving an eye-witness to what he knew, and has been saying right along. Question is, will they listen? I don't want to be gloom and doomy, but I have my doubts about the spin that Bushco will put on John's insights.

2. Condi hearing next week
Next Tuesday begins the confrimation hearing for Condi Rice for Sec of State. I believe JK has at least 15 minutes to make a point, distilled no doubt from "What I learned on my post-Christmas Vacation in the Middle East."

3. I know, but after watching him win 3 debates
by no contest, I feel like he can say the sky is blue, and the response will be "it's red, it's red!" Sorry to be a pessimist today. I got over it in your other thread. Did a little bounce.

4. The Confimation Hearings
Are on the 18th and 19th from 9:00am - 12:OOpm then they break and the hearings take back up at 2:00pm - 5:00pm and thet will be live on C-SPAN. And I can't wait to see him rake that bitch's ass across the coals. And he will to. You wait and see if he doesn't. And he will talk to Biden before the hearing starts and Biden will also rake her ass over the coals. It is a must see.

"The more you tighten your grip Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers." Hope it's prophetic.

7. Your Right
It is too bad that bitch will be confirmed. Because as much as I would love to think she wouldn't you can almost bet money she will. But it will still be a must see hearing. I am willing to bet money that Kerry will meet with the other Democrats on the Committee before the hearing and fill them in on all he has found out on his trip and together they will all be asking her alot of tough ass questions. Alot of them that others will ask will probably be some that Kerry himself wants asked because they each only have so long to question the bitch. But Kerry will be raking that bitch over the coals you wait and see if what I'm telling you isn't right. Biden will also be ready for the bitch. Other Democrats on the panel are: Dodd, Feingold, Boxer, Nelson, Sarbanes, and Obama. I also think you can expect some good ones from Dodd and Feingold. But Kerry and Biden will be the ones to watch here.

8. mental image from Fellowship of the Ring

Aragorn(Kerry) and Legolas(Biden) brandish sword and bow-and-arrow side by side against the Orks, with the other six members(brave fighting men, hobbits and dwarves) of the fellowship following closely behind, together fighting the forces of evil!

You have Biden as Legolas? (Gimli, maybe, not Legolas.)

I can't go there with you. The mental image hurts my eyeballs.

He's pretty enough to be Legolas.

Did we ever determine who * is? I say Denethor.

Ok, I know the physical characteristics don't work very well! Yeah maybe more like the dwarf. But then who can be Legolas? Obama, Feingold? But JK is definitely the king-in-exhile, Aragorn!

Too bad he isn't in the Senate. About Kerry-as-Aragorn, see this post:

Gandalf? It has to be an elder statesman, like...Ted Kennedy! or if not, how about Jimmy Carter...Bill Clinton?

24. Ted Kennedy
I like that. Continuing in the noble tradition of his fallen brothers.

Do you like Bush-as-Denethor? I know the natural reaction is to make him Sauron, but that gives him entirely too much credit, methinks.

I don't have any idea who could be Frodo, though.

28. yeah Bush could be him--
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 01:38 AM by ginnyinWI
In LOTR it has to be someone who is totally under control of the ring--therefore evil. Rove and Cheney would have to be someone higher up. And all the neocons.

Frodo and the hobbits? I know--it's us!! The grassroots. They are battling Evil to allow us to have a peaceful prosperous life. Hey we've got to be in there somewhere.

Oh, I know--Bush can be Gollum!! LOL

edit: I've got another one: Bill Clinton can be Boromir--the one who gets killed in the end of the first movie. A good guy but subject to temptation--he wanted the ring.

30. Oooh... Clinton as Boromir, that's good
I think McCain should be Gollum. He can occasionally show a Smeagol side that wants to do the right thing, but the sweet siren's call of the Ring always wins out over his conscience.

So let's see what we've got here:

John Kerry = Aragorn; Bush = Denethor; McCain = Gollum; Clinton = Boromir; hobbits = the American people (or at least Blue America); Edwards = Legolas (unless someone can think of anyone else relevant/hot).

I think Rove should be the Mouth of Sauron. Various neocons - the cabinet- should be Nazgul. (Rumsfeld can be the Witch King of Angmar.) And I can't decide if I want a real person to be Sauron or not. Someone needs to be Saruman - I guess Cheney might make a good Saruman.

Wow, I have TOTALLY outed myself as a geek tonight. :P

11. These hearings are important
Kerry should be available for press next week. (Awkward perhaps because the coronation of the Rethug king is next week, but if Kerry didn't want to stay and do his job he would have resigned.)

It is vitally important that Dems stand up to the Rethugs when they get the chance. Condi Rice failed miserably in her job as National Security Advisor. (Did anyone here read Richard Clarke's book? The woman was incompetent. So, of course, she gets a promotion. Next stop, Medal of Freedom.) Sen. Kerry just returned from a tour of the Middle East. He should have some fresh observations on what America's role in the world should be and how the neocons have damaged our reputation abroad. I am looking forward to some interrogations.

On a personal and trivial level, I don't think there is any love lost between Kerry and the Bushies. I think part of the election smears last year were personal and were taken as such. I don't see why Kerry would hold back on the criticism. I mean what are the Rethugs going to do -- question his patriotism, call him weak on defense? Screw them.

13. Agreed.
I think the shrub family fears and loathes Kerry because he really does know where the bodies are buried.

I believe * literally could not afford to lose to him, for fear of the mountain of sordid crimes Kerry would shine light on once he was in the White House. So they stole it. I firmly believe that, and nothing I've heard or seen so far has made me rethink that position.

14. There is so much that will come out
eventually. I think that Sen. Reid's idea to hold unofficial hearings is brilliant. And I think a certain Sen. from MA might want to attend such hearings.

Payback is a bitch.

Gotta go. Gotta get up at 5:00 am.

Tomorrow, gang!

19. I believe it, too.
Even though they used fear and lies, I still think Kerry would have narrowly won it. Whenever I start to think that yeah, maybe people are just dumb enough to elect *--I just can't get past those exit polls!

I'll tell you a secret: amid all the anguish and grief over the lost election, I had one happy thought: that at least John Kerry would be safe now. Because I could just imagine the hatred of the BFEE and their faithful followers if he had taken the election. I know he was willing to risk it for the sake of the country, but I was afraid for him.

I think they stole it just to continue their power, not so much to avoid jail. Most white collar criminals walk away. Better to have them exposed while * is in office, and shame them before the world!
Destroy them politically for once and for all.

Seeing Ted Kennedy on Cspan tonight was really encouraging. They're not going to appease the Right, but will fight for their principles! It's not going to be John Kerry against the rest--the Dems are united.

22. You may very well be right about their
addiction to power. They give off all the signs of being drunk with it.

I also admit I had a few genuine moments of panic when I thought Kerry was going to win. During the campaign people kept asking me what I thought was going to happen, and my standard answer was that I thought Kerry would win the most votes, but that I couldn't imagine * leaving the White House. Guess maybe I got that one right. :-(

Missed Teddy on c-span - sounds like I need to see him though. I read somewhere that he'd taken a swipe at Kerry, which distressed me. SCLM in action???

29. hm I don't know that it was a swipe--
but as far as I know, it was about the campaign not having had a clearer message about their values. Not so bad, if you ask me. That's just hindsight anyway.
