Valentine for Romney-comparison to Kerry.
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 09:25 PM by wisteria
Does anyone now anything about Joe Klein? He seems to knock Kerry whenever he can?

As Tay Tay would say, Joe Klein can "bite me". When I see bullsh*t like this, I am so glad I passed on renewing Time Magazine last year.

This little piece appears on a blog site titled Health Care for America.

Time Magazine's Joe Klein writes a sonnet to Mitt Romney and his health care plan. Here are some excerpts:

"Governor Mitt Romney is a Massachusetts politician with a long, narrow face, an impossible shock of hair and presidential ambitions. He's also pretty tall. But any resemblance to another recent Massachusetts politician who ran for President evaporates the moment Romney opens his mouth: his demeanor and metabolism are the opposite of John Kerry's—informal, conversational, enthusiastic and speedy. Or maybe it was just that we were talking about his rather remarkable plan to bring mandatory universal health-care coverage to Massachusetts by next summer, the first time a Republican has tried to pull off this most Democratic of policy goals.

1. That's a pretty nasty swipe at Kerry
I wonder what his problem is? Wasn't that plan more the paln of the Massachusetts Democrats?

2. I had heard mention of it originally being a Dem plan, but this
article makes it seen like the Governors.

9. I read it and responded although it maybe a little late to do so.
So it,s OK for Bush to play politic with the public and a war, but the Dem's can't call him to task for his misadventures. Screw Klein.

4. Joe Klein has obviously never had a beer with John Kerry
"But any resemblance to another recent Massachusetts politician who ran for President evaporates the moment Romney opens his mouth: his demeanor and metabolism are the opposite of John Kerry's—informal, conversational, enthusiastic and speedy."

He should try it sometime. I think he'd find JK to be informal, conversational and enthusiastic.

And exactly how does someone opening their mouth help you to determine their metabolism? That didn't even make sense.

5. Yeah, the resemblance does end there.
First of all, John Kerry does not slick his hair back with shoe polish or whatever that stuff is that Romney uses. John Kerry never did a campaign ad with his shirt off which was, in Romney's case, a cardinal sin. (I still have the nightmares.) Let's see, John Kerry actually won his Senate races, Romney lost by 58-41% in '94. (Then wimped out on running in '96 against, oh, John Kerry cuz he was a big wimpy baby.)

Oh, and John Kerry did not promise the people of Massachusetts that he was one thing and then morph into something else. (Romney '94 and '02: Pro-Choice. Romney '06: Restrict choice. Romney '94 & '02: moderate views on gay rights, Romney '06: no gay rights and no civil unions either. Lying piece of crap.) And John Kerry has never, ever, never gone around the country bad-mouthing and insulting the people who elected him to high public office.

Oh, and John Kerry's plan for extending helath coverage to 27 million Americans last year was innovative and widely praised and, ahm, his plan. Romney is leeching off of the brains, innovation and will of the Democrats in Massachusetts to actually craft a plan that deals with the uninsured in this state. Romney only cares about this issue until someone in South Carolina tells him it sounds communist and then he will drop it like a hot potato.

One guy from MA is consistent, honest and has integrity. The other guy took his shirt off in a poolside campaign ad that still gives me nightmares. Hoenstly, life is unfair.

7. Thanks! That helped.
That campaign ad in '02 was just too much. Geez Louise, there is simply no standards for these Rethugs at all. They are sick puppies.

Ah, much better now.

11. This is both a wonderful comparison and hilarious
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 11:34 PM by karynnj
Gee none of my state's Governors ever had a shirtless campaign ad. In last year's nastiness I guess that is something I could be grateful for.

Was the ad really that bad? Could it be used against him?

In fairness, Kerry was shirtless in the pool picture too and in the one where he was near his car with wetsuit and board - though both were nice pictures.

10. Metabolism???
Given what he is known to eat and knowing he admits to loving chocolate and sweets and the fact that he is quite slender, I bet Romney (and most of the western world) WISHES he had John Kerry's metabolism.

Did Klein forgate that Kerry actually moves pretty fast, still can do long charity bike races, and play hockey. How could he forget windsurfing?

This is pathetically funny if you think about it, Kerry is energetic and enthusiastic - he is definitely not a slow paced dour person. I bet he has a way better grin than Romney, who I haven't seen much of except when I clicked on the things with Kerry posted here. (He seemed really sour at the veterans day thing, where Kerry sounded perfect for the moment.

8. What a disgusting whore
Please see my comment # 62 in the Kerry 2008 thread re: pundits and political consultants/talking heads. Who pays these people to be stupid all day?
