3. Yes, the Downing Street Minutes letter

That set all the hearts of DU on fire. :sarcasm: (Okay, it didn't but it should have. It should have been supported wholeheartedly on dKos as well. Hypocrites.)

Sen. Kerry needed five members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to sign that letter. These are the rules of that committee:

1.5 If five members of the Committee have made a request in writing to the Chairman to call a meeting of the Committee, and the Chairman fails to call such a meeting within seven calendar days thereafter, including the day on which the written notice is submitted, these members may call a meeting by filing a written notice with the Clerk of the Committee who shall promptly notify each member of the Committee in writing of the date and time of the meeting.

We couldn't get the five Dem sigs to get the hearing. Of course, later on in the fall Sen. Harry Reid shut down the Senate in order to get Part II of that hearing. We still don't know how that is going to play out as Part II of the hearing is still not in the works. Sigh! Sen. Kerry did great work on this and was way out in front. Profile in courage, along with the other signers of this excellent letter.

5. I have a new "O" thing

I taped the Imus interview. There is an exchange between the two when Imus points out that he lost a lot of money on the election. Kerry responds: tell my wife that. Imus chuckles and begins to says well I didn't lose as much as Teresa did, while the camera flips back to JK. The look on JK's face when he laughs, as Imus completes the thought, is positively one of the most genuine and the seixest laugh I've ever seen (fiddy times).


And get your mind out of the "G" place, by "O" I meant obsession.

7. I like the part in that interview when Sen. Kerry reads

and Imus teases him about it. "Charles loves it when you read to us." Kerry gives that thumbs up sign. Imus says, "No really he does." JK just smiles then puts on his glasses and reads to us. Gee Charles, I love that too! (I have no idea why. But it appeals to me enormously.)

14. If you look back through DU archives it was posted here

the day the letter was released (June 24, 2005). It was released to a select group of bloggers, I had it, Raw had it, Will Pitt did. I think we all posted it here. I originally posted it on the LUTD blog and I also posted a copy of it on the Dem Daily. It did not show up on JK's Senate website until a few weeks ago.

Thank you. What bothers me is that it didn't get more support from the people who never shut up about 'No Dem is challenging the Prez and No Dem is calling for hearings.' Well, yeah, a Dem did, they just chose to ignore him. Fools and retards.
