Italia Federici (ad with Kerry)
If anyone was watching the ridiculous testimony of this (blank), so many words pop into my mind for this shill. Well anyway she mentioned an ad her group made about Kerry and how he was a hypocrite on enviromental issues, this ad is so unreal it is ridiculous in itself. They claim that Kerry, RFK jr., Sierra Club, etc., travel to events like Earth Day in their limos and SUV's. Well just watch the ad, in fact the website itself is full of nonsense about the enviroment. Talk about hypocrites.

Ad: http://www.crea-online.org/media/hypocrites.mov

CREA site: http://www.crea-online.org/

She wrote an Op-Ed which she mentioned in her testimony, here is one parargraph:

The hypocrisy is unsettling - and rampant. Footage from a fuel efficiency rally where Kerry and leaders of major "environmental" groups appeared - which can be seen at the crea-online.org website - shows them railing before the cameras against Congress, and employers, and soccer moms with SUVs. Behind the scenes, these self-proclaimed environmentalists stepped off-stage to congratulate each other in the shadow of their stretch limousines and the very SUVs they denounced moments before. Status quo behavior for groups so accustomed to getting away with decades of shading and deception.

The Op-Ed was written at a very interesting site http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/guest/2004/if_1020p.shtml Yes, the Gannon site.

To top it off she said in her testimony that her group which is a 501C4, could not be poltical and she said it was not. Most interestingly Senator Dorgan said that investigations into groups like hers was going to be done by the Finance Committee, and who is on the committee, Kerry.

This is getting more interesting as each day passes, can't wait for those hearings.

2. Wow. Sen Kerry looks about 5 years younger in that ad.
Because he was.

They took film of him from Earth Day 2000 walking near an SUV and used it against him during the campaign. How lame is that?

I can't wait to see the hearings either. She is a huge lying bitch and will never make it past Sen Kerry without her story falling apart.

The ad is so lame - especially as Kerry was still walking straight ahead when she stopped filming him - for all we know he WALKED to the event, rode his bike or motorcycle or flew in. What's dumb is that the event likely took place somewhere Senator Kerry flew into and he may have been met and driven to the rally by planners of it.

It would be great if Kerry does question her.

3. These groups are just shell groups that cover corporations and are
trying to muddle the water on important issues.

If you have read Robert F Kennedy'Jr.'s book, Crimes Against Nature, you will see that there are a lot of groups like that that have been created by lobbyists for big corporations, just to try to present the corporations POV while attributing them to scientists and pseudo-environmentalists.

7. She sent this in an e-mail to Abramoff.
How can she say it was not political?

We are going to highlight environmentalist support and we are also going to do something mean to Senator John Kerry. We have a video of him after he spoke against ANWR at Earth Day 2000, behind the staging area getting into a chauffer driven SUV between several limousines....We are asking people to call Kerry and tell him they are not impressed by his conservation ethic and not to filibuster ANWR and hold everyone in the Senate hostage. Or they can call Daschel and tell him not to be tricked by Kerry's PR stunts. We want a vote on the Bush Balanced Energy Plan ASAP...

We have transferred the video to beta for Hannity and Colmes, O'Reilley , etc....and we have help distributing from interested friends whom I'm sure you can guess.

I am letting EVERYONE know that you are the only reason we have the funding to do this....THANK YOU SO MUCH!

8. The ad doesn't even make sense...
What a totally cliche and poorly done ad...

"Their policies hurt the most vulnerable, among us, the elderly, the poor..."

Um, conserving energy hurts the poor and elderly?

"They got to those rallies in their SUV's!"

So they show Kerry walking down the street past a Ford Explorer and we are supposed to believe it's his, and that means he didn't cast pro-environment votes?

Is this broad on hallucinogens?

That ad was filled with all the common cliches "They say one thing and do another."

"They are hurting the poor and elderly."

But none of that was substantiated. It's just a bunch of stupid canned rhetoric - not even creatively done.

9. The narrator's voice sounded phony. Here's what I took away from the ad:
"Our environmental policy is better than theirs because they ride in limos."

10. But it appeals to their base
These people have spent years building up the idea that Dems are out-of-touch and 'say one thing and do another.' Ads like this are targeted to specific groups (not us) and are actually effective at reinforces that meta-idea that 'you can't trust these people.' These bastards have been doing this for years. Gawd I hate these people.

Remember the 2nd Pres debate when Bush suddenly brought up 'Plessy vs. Ferguson' and so manh people couldn't understand why. These were code words intended for a base who understood them very, very well. (Many RW circles use the Plessy decision as a code for abortion and how Plessy established slavery and it was eventually overturned. They follow this through twists and turns to mean that abortion will be overturned someway.) This mention was not intended for me, it was intended as red meat for the base. Same thing here. This is dangerous stuff because it is indirect and looks fairly dumb. It isn't. It's dangerous.

11. I agree that it plays to their base.
Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 12:31 PM by ProSense
It's also highly hypocritical and that's where an effective counter is needed once you understand the mentality of these people, how they push the boundaries to make these links. I remember Bush's Dred Scott moment. Whose idea was that? You're right about not ignoring these.

Still to me its really crazy when you look at the message on face value. Imagine the majority of people who don't belong to their base, like me, seeing this and the WTF experience they will probably have after seeing this, especially if it registers later.

Edited to correct sentence fragment.
