1. He is toooooo beautiful to LIVE
I... there aren't words. For his gorgeousness.

Oh God. Must go swoon now.

I really wish I could take the place of that file folder in the couch pic.

John, why are you so beautiful?
:loveya:

22. not cords, dockers I think
He is too tall to wear cords. I remembered this when I saw one of the old debate videos from the '96 Senate race. He is too tall and too thin to wear cords. Just didn't look right.

6. do you remember around the final weeks of the campaign
that hunting trip he took ? the one where the right wing whores and some asshole democrats made fun of him for ?

well one of the best moments of that was the dog that went along with them. there was one moment where the dog came over to them and he went straight to Kerry who leaned down to to him. and the dog just loved him.

while the photo was meant to help get across that Kerry isn't going to take away their guns as the right wing assholes were claiming. that moment with the dog was the best and what stood out the most.

...who they can trust and who they can't.

I'd like to put every candidate up to that test!

on the head when he was an infant.

9. that was one of those things
I honestly don't think he agreed with. It was obvious why it was done, but a little too obvious for John. Not his style to do something solely for the purpose of making a point to the pro NRA people.

I got a phone call from nearly everyone I know who has a toe in the puke party. "Did you know he hunts?" "Your hero kills little ducks" blah, blah, blah. Even people who were undecideds that I know started it with me, I think more for a solid argument on his behalf, like "ok-convince me, because that was stupid." I found myself doing a lot of justifying to people after that. And to myself, really. In every movement, relationship or anything that means anything, I think you have to come to a point where your faith or dedication or whatever gets questioned, and that is the deciding moment of how committed you are. Being an animal rights advocate that was the issue that "questioned my faith" so to speak. I knew he hunted, but the event forced me to think about it. Obviously, I reconciled my personal issues, or I wouldn't be here. I guess what I meant to say was although the media turned a campaign move into a debacle, it was what made my commitment to him stronger.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to spoil a good thread. Your post just got me thinking about the impact that had on me.

24. Yeah, he hunts, big frickin' deal!
(And, I say this as a vegetarian who is against hunting, too) Stupid more liberal than thou argument, probably delivered by a Naderite! Dubya and Cheney hunt, too! It is a dumb argument to use when the fate of the whole country is at stake.

Oh BTW, this my fave:

25. yep, it is a dumb argument
when talking about the fate of the country, or comparing him to the evil empire. The committment I was speaking of was the total one. Would I work for him? Would I stand behind him no matter what, when? Was I willing to place my entire faith in him, should he not win, and run again, etc. etc. And look what happened. He did win, and he still needs to run again. Anyway, it was a big deal to me in the long-term picture, and in whether I got behind him a thousand percent. I'm there, so I got over it. There are about a million or so other reasons that he's the absolute best person to be our president.

11. I wish that had been the picture they'd used
instead of the "look at the camera with a guy behind you carrying a goose" picture the press ran instead. I loved the "nose to nose with the dog" picture so much more.

17. Yep
I hate to criticize the campaign, but I really do think they just don't get real people sometimes. So many more ways to reach rural people than with hunting. I told them to forget that route altogether and just have JK go to lots of music and food festivals, especially in the south. Let people just get to know him. People want to feel like they can toss the keys of their house to the President and that he isn't going to play grab-ass with the wife, ruin the kids or run up the credit cards. That's all. Lots of different kinds of men fit that bill, unfortunately it's still only white men. And people know the animals and kids thing, I don't think they ever got that either. The only stranger our dog has never barked at is our son-in-law, you just don't forget stuff like that.

15. Not sure which one I love more,
the puppy one, or the thoughtful one on the couch.

BTW - one of my secret bonds with JK - he has a German Shepherd named Kim. Up till 2 months ago we had a German Shepherd named Kate. (It's ok - she was ancient - about 16 years old, and the best dog ever.) See how deep the psychic connection is??? ;-)

16. I don't suppose anyone has a photo of him with his dog?
That kind of thing would have been good coverage during the campaign. I'm a cat person, myself, but had a dog once, too. Am thinking of getting another one sometime.

Give 'em Zell himself:

As many of you know, I have great affection – some might say an obsession – for my two Labrador retrievers, Gus and Woodrow. It turns out John is a fellow dog lover, too, and he better be. His German Shepherd, Kim, is about to have puppies. And I just want him to know... Gus and Woodrow had nothing to do with that.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Senator John Kerry.

That's not the only time that two faced back stabbing bastard ever praised Kerry. But it is good to see it in print and on the wire for all to read and see what we have known all along. "ZIG ZAG ZELL CAN GO STRAIGHT TO HELL!"

How SWEET. I especially like the puppy one.

You can tell a lot about a man (or woman) by how he treats animals... shoot, by how he treats anyone or anything weaker than he is.
