http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1147153,00.htmlEven before DeLay's announcement that he would abdicate his leadership post, top Bush advisers tell TIME, the President's inner circle always treated DeLay as a necessary burden. He may have had an unmatched grip on the House and Washington lobbyists, but DeLay is not the kind of guy—in background and temperament—the President feels comfortable with. Of the former exterminator, a Republican close to the President's inner circle says, "They have always seen him as beneath them, more blue collar. He's seen as a useful servant, not someone you would want to vacation with."
I just love this article, it has so many delicious angles to condemn * with. I did find this posted in GD a few days ago, but I wanted to talk about this with you guys, because it's just exhibit #3883 of how we were lied to last year about the personalities of the two candidates. The folks in GD talked more about how * is really friends with Delay and he's only creating distance because of Delay's downfall. This is a funny way of doing that. I actually think they're telling the truth, that * is, of course, a TOTAL snob pretending to be a regular guy chopping wood in a cowboy hat. This is the REAL *, raw and pure -- dumping people who thought he was their friend, and then putting some salt in the wound by saying that you're just a lower class scumbag anyway.
I think we can all agree that if Kerry was in this position, he would only "dump" someone if he found out they were dishonest or unethical, and even then, he wouldn't use snobbery after the fact. Kerry is, in fact, the opposite of * because although he is quite comfortable with the rich and elite of this country, he seems to be the most at ease with his old buddies from Vietnam or even Marvin, who used to work at a surf shop. And don't let that evil Newsweek story creep into your consciousness (you know, the part where Marvin loses his brush and they describe him as Kerry's "servant"). There's no doubt in my mind that they are friends in the real sense of the word, and Kerry would NEVER look down upon him or anyone else from a different walk of life. It's character that interests Kerry the most. For George, it's simply that you should do him favors, give him money, or else you better be the right pedigree to hang out with him.
This little article is just one more piece of info of how little character * actually possesses. In short, he's a bad friend. Truman still stuck by Pendergrass even after he was put in jail, because Pendergrass had done so much for him, even if he was a shady character. I NEVER thought I would have even a nanosecond of sympathy for Delay, yet * granted me one (okay, nanosecond over -- Delay IS and ALWAYS WILL be a crazy, ruthless SOB). I guess delivering vote after vote after vote for the president can only get you so far, when the president thinks you're beneath him for only being a bugman.
