Any news from the Senator today?
There's this... But it's all I could find.

US Senator John Kerry also arrived in Israel Monday, part of a 12 day swing through the Middle East and Asia, with stops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait, Israel and India. This is Kerry's second visit here since losing to George W. Bush in the 2004 US presidential race.

7. or maybe he went to Afghanistan from Pakistan
and then left for Israel at the end of the day - which would make sense as Afghanistan is not very safe. KG's post with the schedule had Afghanistan before Israel and up to this point he was following it. That there would be no press out of Afghanistan would make sense - we never saw pictures from Iraq last August.

With so many of the terrorists etc being from tribal societies, he may actually have a bit of extra "protection" if they see all societies through the lens of their own - they may see Kerry as the leader of the "tribe" in the US that is against Bush's tribe. They would likely prefer capturing an administration person. It will be nice when he backs in the US, facing only RW words.

5. I was worried a bit too.
Especially with the Canadian diplomat being killed in Afghanistan on Sunday. He was in a car that was attacked and he and 3 others were killed. Frightening place. :scared:

6. since the airstrike
things are getting pretty dicey in Pakistan. Does this government of ours have to get everyone on our enemies list with their incompetence??

8. Afghanistan is getting worse
Afghanistan buffeted by suicide bombings Tue Jan 17, 12:09 AM ET

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AFP) - Afghanistan was reeling from one of its bloodiest days since the fall of the Taliban in 2001 after suicide bombers killed at least 24 people in two separate attacks.

The bombings -- in the town of Spin Boldak near the Pakistani border and the southern city of Kandahar -- heightened fears that tactics used by Iraqi insurgents were increasingly being imported into Afghanistan.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan condemned the attacks, which came just one day after a Canadian diplomat and two Afghans were killed in a suicide bombing near Kandahar.

"The secretary general condemns these attacks, which represent an unacceptable assault upon the peace process," a UN statement said on Tuesday.

An attacker riding a motorcycle blew himself up as a crowd left a wrestling match in Spin Boldak, killing 20 people and wounding at least 20 others, Kandahar province governor Asadullah Khalid and witnesses said.

9. That's very dangerous
"...one of its bloodiest days since 2001."

The crazy part is that Afghanistan is falling more and more into chaos, a perfect environment to breed terrorists, and Bush claims he's making the world safer. Bush singlehandedly did the opposite when he started the Iraq war.

11. He looks worried in these photos...like someone who has the weight of
the world on his shoulders...which, he does. Our Shadow President is representing us overseas. Someone has to. Our "AWfficial" President is certainly not doing his job.
