CNN Alert: Kerry Interview from Baghdad
Heads Up: Senator Kerry will be on CNN today in the 4:00 hour (probably about 4:33) and again in the 7:00 hour. It’s an interview he did earlier today from Baghdad.

1. What is there with Wolf Blitzer? Twice in a week?

9. I think CNN has a lot of international infrastructure available
This is good. I remember Wolf mentioning that he'd see him again "later in the week". :) :) Fine with me!

6. I am not very good at this (never tried :-)
but FWIW, here it is:

Wolfie asked him very substantive questions regarding the best way forward etc -- Kerry was quite emphatic about the solution not being military in nature, but that it has to be political mainly. Without actually doing a verbatim reprisal of his speech calls for a ME summit by Bushco, he really made the same point by reiterating that the understanding is there among the leaders of that region regarding the importance of a political solution -- the clear implication was that no one seems to be leading the charge to pull it all together...

More in the next one...

7. Wolfie asked him about joining
the military now vis-a-vis Murtha's comments that he wouldn't. Kerry said he absolutely would and without putting too fine a point on it, called attention to the fact that he did join the military back when it was turbulent times and he had not agreed with the use-policy. Very subtly and very nicely done. He also went on to say, that despite the leadership problems, the military itself is an excellent outfit and that soldiers on the ground are doing phenomenally well and nobly too.

Please understand that this is extreme paraphrasing!

His subtlety still amazes me -- 2 years after I discovered his existence!

12. Are we getting thicker skin
or is the logic behind the arguments of the bashers getting weaker and weaker?

15. I am against somebody who is fighting with GOP smears
including smears concerning Kerry taking money from the Big Dig. This is really weaker and weaker.

The person is an Edwards supporter who is outraged by Kerry's position on Iraq (LOL)

17. Highly doubt the support for Edwards. No Edwards supporter would answer
in that way.

25. Me too.
The post is deleted now, but he linked to a right-wing smear site, for a quote he could've gotten on hundreds of other sites (JK's pre-IWR vote floor speech).

I'm thinking that one bunks under a bridge. If you know what I mean.

19. I hope we're getting thicker skin, but I know
they are running out of arguments. Someone without all the facts may try to make an argument that the IWR was a vote for war, but in the face of facts some are resorting to illogical arguments. The thing is why would anyone go out of their way to do anything but deal with facts. Today it seems they're trying harder to impeach President Kerry, than Crook in Chief Bush.

20. That's the curse of being a Kerrycrat -
he's held to impossibly high standards while Bush and Co. screw over the entire world.

24. That was a great interview.
Sen. Kerry had to correct Blitzer when he statd that Kerry's position was pretty much Bush's position. Kerry said that is not the case, that he wants more troop withdrawal and wants the Iraqis to take over more responsbility for policing their own country. Kerry also said that he had discussed the situation with Iraqi President Talibani and that they both agreed that substantial troop reductions should take place this year. Blitzer was trying to get Kerry to say that we would 'stay as long as it takes' whereas Kerry said that we need to have Iraqis take over. The Senator also re-iterated what he said in the Council on Foreign Relations speech back in Dec when he noted that the war in Iraq is a symptom of a greater struggle within Islam over the direction and over if and how the Muslim world will deal with modernization, political oppression and religious fundamentalism. (That's way more complex than anything Bush has ever said. Bush can't even say modernization, geez.)

Blitzer also tried to trap Kerry into saying something bad about Rep. Murtha, which JK did not do. He said that he would be proud to serve in the military, as he was proud to serve even though he had doubts back in the Vietnam era. (The service and the soldiers are not the command structure. The war and how it being run is not to be confused with the warriors. Ahm, that is consistent.)
