So many posters think Kerry will be filibustering ala Jimmy Stewart in |
|
"Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" that I am afraid they will be disappointed when they see how it actually is done. I have tried to point this out where I could but it doesn't seem to take! I fear there will be a backlash if it doesn't happen. Sigh. He should be thanked for all he does but I wish people understood a bit more.

1. There's no educating some people. |

They see what they want to see. No one does those types of filibuster's anymore. It hasn't beendone like that for years. And the rules have changed. Filibusters can now be ended with 60 votes. It's not the same as it was in that old, old movie.
I share your frustration.

2. But I do agree it would be great to hear |

Think about it, CSPAN covering hours of Kerry (and hopefully at least one or two others) speaking for hours on end.
In reality I share your frustration. That said I know I don't understand all the new rules either. If Reid and Frist agree on a vote time does that preclude Kerry or others calling for a vote? (If so, I guess that means Reid determines whether or not there is a filibuster.)
