Here's a simple lil' support thread I made in GD: Alito (hahaha - the admins are quick!): http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=251915&mesg_id=251915I'm calling all Kerrycrats to report for duty and let's see how many names we can get on that thread! :patriot:

A lot of people have said now that they will support him in 2008. I think the filibuster was a big, big deal to a lot of people and it may have changed some minds. There'll still be idiots, of course, but a lot of people who were neutral/indifferent/slightlt negative about him before are now on board. I've even seen a few habitual bashers praising him.

8. They're a fickle bunch |

I do think it will truly matter in the long run. But I also think that any inkling of Kerry not supporting "out now" or some other leftie position will bring the bashers right back out. Some will be willing to at least listen, for a little while, but this won't make the final difference in the long run. Still, I'm glad he is doing this anyway just because it's the right thing to do. That's all he really needs to remember, just do the right thing and tell people why it's the right thing, that's all most people want.

Perfectly said. That's right. The rest will take care of itself.

to do, regardless of the outcome. In terms of Kerry's '08 "agendas," (fuck CNN) whether this was the "smart" thing to do for the future (which even I, who want the rumored "impeachment deal" to succeed more than anything, think it IS) certain people who said they would simply no longer support the Dems in the future if a filibuster didn't happen (and certain members of the indy media community who gave Kerry ultimatums--FUCK BUZZFLASH) will now have the action they demanded from a man too many are still calling a callous, heartless Washington insider. It's sad that this is what Kerry had to do to prove to them he is as brave, daring and devoted a servant of Democracy as those of us who support him have known he was all along, but since he did? To the haters, the whiners, the complainers and the moronic "Progressives"—You wanted it? You got it. Now stow it. Better yet, support it and hope the effort somehow works.

11. I think he's been brilliant. I think this is a win-win for him. |
|
If Senators stand with him, it's a huge victory. If they don't, he'll be able to point to this as another true act of courage and conviction that was unjustifiably ignored by his colleagues, and so will we.
