I will not rest!

Kerry’s nifty idea just in from Davos
By Boston Herald editorial staff
Saturday, January 28, 2006

Sen. John Kerry, who if memory serves used to be a serious politician, seems intent on turning himself into a caricature of what a Democrat ought to be.

This week, too busy attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the Senate debate on the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court, Kerry nevertheless phoned in with a thought. Why don’t the Democrats filibuster the nomination?

The letter I sent:

Thank you for the lack of sensitivity you have shown to Americans who are deeply concerned about a Judiciary shift to the right. The disrespect of Senator Kerry and Senator Kennedy by some in the media has been nothing short of distasteful. When called on to show a little class, you failed miserably and stooped to lows that cannot by any measure be considered journalistic.

Maybe you should read up on the real reasons people are opposed to Alito’s confirmation instead of belittling those Americans who take the issue seriously:

And instead of speaking the truth you resort to spreading the distortions, innuendos and rumors put out by certain groups when you fail to mention the other attendees at World Economic Forum in Davos:

Senators Kerry, Biden, Chambliss, McCain, Smith, and Sununu.
House reps: Frank, Kolbe, Markey, Shays.

Gavin Newsom, the mayor of San Francisco
Bill Owens, the Republican governor of Colorado
Mark Warner — the Democrat who just got through being governor of Virginia.

Elaine Chao, the secretary of labor
Michael Chertoff, head of homeland security
Alberto Gonzales, attorney general
Robert Kimmitt, deputy secretary of the treasury
Michael Leavitt, secretary of health and human services
and Rob Portman, who started attending Davos as a House rep (Ohio) and is still attending, as U.S. trade rep.

Was Senator McCain wasting his time? He was still there even after Senator Kerry cut his trip short to lead an effort that Senator McCain should have. Why wasn’t John McCain on the Senate floor speaking out about the signing statement attached to his torture ban, which receive tremendous bipartisan Congressional support, to ensure human rights are not violated in the name of capturing and prosecuting terrorists? He was wasting his time, as you put it, giving a speech in Davos:

US should retain military threat on Iran: McCain

Fri Jan 27, 2006 09:01 PM ET

By Evelyn Leopold
DAVOS, Switzerland (Reuters) - The United States should keep the threat of using force against Iran as a last resort if it wanted leverage in the dispute over Tehran's nuclear program, U.S. Senator John McCain said on Friday.

McCain, a prominent member of U.S. President George W. Bush's Republican Party, told a panel at the World Economic Forum that Iran needed to be referred to the U.N. Security Council, even if no one knew whether sanctions would be imposed.

5. But in the snark, they say he was
(at least at one time) a serious politician. Have they ever said he was before.

Does this mean Kerry will lose the Boston Herald vote for either a Presidential or Senitorial vote in 2008?

9. He never had it in the first place, so no big deal
in 2004, the Herald endorsed Bush.

10. You are so polite to the Herald.

Here's a Masshole response:

Dear Dummies at the Rag:

Senator Kerry spoke on the Alito nomination on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday before going over to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He attended the conference because he is a member of both the Senate Finance Committee and Ranking Dem on the Small Business Committee. If you actually had any real reporters at your paper, or even people with access to C-Span, you could have seen that Sen. Kerry spoke before he left for Davos and then again, on the Senate floor, on Friday. But, I guess that would have required some effort, something you have never put into reporting on Kerry in the past and hey, why should you start now, right?

I already know enough not to use the Herald as paper to wrap fish in because it tends to make them spoil sooner. This latest effort of yours at sliming Sen. Kerry with more half-baked lies and innuendo is pathetic. You bunch of slimy losers should just admit that you hate Sen. Kerry and miss the days when you used to be able to bash him about things that Herald readers actually care about: like when he was renovating his house. Hey, at least you could verify that he actually had a house being renovated back in the good old days.

Love & Kisses
Tay

I can just hear your letter being read out loud in your voice. :) That's telling 'em. I'll write my own to them too but it won't have that Masshole ring of authority to it, I fear.

11. Wow!!!!
I just told them that if their readers were dumb enough to believe the Davos nonsense, it was because the newspaper had failed in their duty to inform said readers.

You went above and beyond. :applause:
