Davos Economic Forum Continues
Look how many Republican Senators and members of Bush's Cabinet are STILL in Davos. If my calculations are correct, John Kerry would have had to jump on a plane the very second he heard that Frist had scheduled the cloture vote. These other Republican Senators apparently think they can phone in their entire debate on one of the most important votes that ever faces the country.

Michael Chertoff, US Secretary of Homeland Security

Robert Mueller, Director FBI

Robert Zoellick, Deputy Secretary of State

Zalmay Khalilzad, US Ambassador to Iraq

Paul Wolfowitz, World Bank President

Bill Owens, Governor of Colorado

Elaine Chao, US Secretary of Labor

Kevin Martin, Chairman FCC

Josette Shiner, US Undersecretary for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs

Faryar Shirzad, Deputy Assistant to the President, Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs, NSC

John McCain (R-Ariz.)

Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.)

John Sununu (R-N.H.)

Congressman Jim Kolbe (R- Ariz.)

1. A side-effect
Is that now we have less representation on the side of sanity at the World Economic Forum, which contrary to the right-wing media spin, is actually an important international conference. Sigh.

4. That's a nice post over there
Teresa was there with him on Wednesday- I wonder if she stayed, as his "eyes" there. I assume she was there in her own right as the head of the Heinz foundation. I think he made the right decision to come back here to make his second speech. It really sounded more like a case for conservatives who value privacy to reject Alito. It may be he thought he could focus the discussion over the weekend to their advantage. If we see Hillary out their on Sunday, we will know this could very well be successful.
