Question for archivists or bio enthusiasts here
I will soon gain access to all the NYTimes and possibly Boston Globe archives going back to 1969. If you could get any stories from this period, which ones would it be. A little birdie might just pop them into your e-mail. (Having legally obtained them, of course.)

Just wanted to know.

3. you are so awesome, Lady!
as Ginny mentioned John's involvement with Iran Contra.

also, Watergate, anything from beginning to end. I have a personal interest. When I was a kid, the first Weekly Reader I ever got was a picture of Nixon with the line IMPEACHED? underneath it. That leaves an imprint. I've seen many books and testimonials, but newspaper reports from that time would be GREAT. I know there's a lot there, I trust your judgement, and please don't knock yourself out on my behalf. I'm going to use the colleges database extensively, so I'll return the favor if I can.

4. For me, definitely
VVAW and his arrest. It'd be interesting to go back and see what they were writing about him back then. And PICTURES!!!!!!!!! Maybe you can find some that were nearly lost in the mists of old newsprint...

5. I'm not sure the photo archives are open
I'll see. But I will find the original stories on the VVAW marches both in DC and in Boston. I would also like to see the news on the arrest in Lexington and how the towns people practically rioted to get the vets released. (Lexington rioting. That was a long time ago.)

Sounds funny now! Is the research online, or are you actually going to the archive. I have access to the NYTimes index through my husband's work. It's amazing. It goes back all the way to 1851. And you can see and print out photos.

I've used it for personal research, but (d'oh!) never looked up JK before. I can do that. Wow - I just did. In two seconds I got his engagement announcement, the wedding announcement (both with photos), and a pile of articles. It does appear at first glance that our hero was quite the young hothead. :P

Now if I can figure out how to get them into here.

7. The Times just became availalble
at work. So I will have access to it daily in order to facilitate company research and archiving. That I can also use it for whatever I want, is of no interest to the company. And it's in electronic form, so that means I can send it out. However, it is still under copyright, so any postings from it should follow fair use guidelines.
