Another (sigh) 2008 poll
Edited on Thu Feb-02-06 08:47 PM by MH1
May as well make sure we're represented, since it's already posted in GD.

http://www.demochoice.org/dcballot.php?poll=200602

ON EDIT: This poll is an Instant-Runoff Vote (IRV) style poll!! PLEASE read the "how it works" page:

if you don't understand why it tells you your vote "counted" for someone other than Kerry.

You want to step through the "rounds" of the results, starting with the first round, to see how your vote affected Kerry's ranking. Your vote DID count for Kerry.

Note that MyDD posts the first-round results, as well as the final round.

1. WTF? My vote was counted for Clark?
How the fuck does this work? I had him as my second choice... it just blooped right over Kerry.

Fucking myDD. :grr:

14. It's *Instant Runoff*. Sorry I didn't explain initially!
Sorry, I thought instant runoff was more well known. I added some explanation in the post.

I think it's a fine methodology. Note that Mydd posts the first-round results, as well as the final round.

3. No, it was counted for Kerry
but they have different round where they eliminate the lowest ranker. They tell you for whom your vote would count for the final round.

4. This poll is rigged
I tried it again.... different assortment on my list.... still came up for Clark, even though I ranked him a lot lower to try to make my vote count for Kerry.

Nice "poll."

12. I updated the post to try to explain.
I hope it makes more sense now.

I like Instant Runoff Voting, myself. I think it gives people a chance to pick who they really want, without "wasting" their vote. So, in 2000, Nader would have gotten a much higher first-round percentage, but Gore would have won easily, because he would have picked up "second-choice" votes from Nader voters at a rate of 2 to 1 compared with Bush.

9. In polls like that you want to vote only 1 candidate
this way, in the final round, your vote is counted towards none of the other.

17. I'm not questioning
the methodology. It's just that these polls keep popping up everywhere, and I know they're being manipulated by all types of people. They never reflect reality. It's frustrating.

18. "They never reflect reality." So true.
But, they will be touted around the blogosphere to at least a few gullible folks who don't know better.

So I thought I'd have some fun with my second, third, etc. choices. Altho I actually know someone who says he likes Biden in 2008. Tee-hee.

16. FYI, you can vote again every couple of minutes and as Mass
said, only vote for Kerry. Clearing cookies and such on options -internet connections will allow you to vote more oftern too. I was LOL at the suggestion this method of voting be used in Primaries.

19. And here's another version -
http://www.demochoice.org/dcballot.php?norot=on&poll=myddpfeb2

which includes Gore.

Okay these are meaningless but may as well make our guy look good even in the meaninglessness wars. If you're bored, anyway.
